PVAMU Spring 2011

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for PVAMU CON 2011 hopefulls! As you will see, I have a lot of questions and concerns! I am at Texas Southern University and I am applying for spring 2011. My science, core, and overall GPA's are above a 3.5 and i have taking the HESI and recieved 84 on math and grammar, 85 on reading comp, but i missed the A&P by 3pts.. i made a 72:mad:! But it was b/c i was taking the exam for UT and they require the vocab and i before i began the A&P section I was crying b/c i failed the vocab section.. i was ******! Anyways, any adive on what to study for the vocab section or A&P section (even though i found it somewhat easy)? I hope this thread will help us in the long run! :)

Hey this is Michele from orientation. Did you get every done taken care off so you could registrar for you classes?

Yes, after they removed my hold I had no problem registering. What about you?

same here I didn't have any trouble at all. Now I'm just ready for classes to start. Have you gotten you books? I know there is one they strong recommend that we read before the semester starts, so I'm going to get that one this week, and I'll have to wait for the rest until January since I have financial aid.

mblade06- i have heard that the recommended book is really helpful, i will be purchasing it sometime this week as well. I have a question for you about financial aid, if you don't mind sharing with me, did you receive any grants? I'm asking because at my other university i received about 3 grants but now that I transferred to PVAMU I only received the Pell Grant...

yeah same here. I know the pell grants are always offered, but the other grants sometimes have to be received at the beginning of the year, cause they only get so much funding for them. Now don't quote me on this, it's just something that I heard.

Okay yes I heard the same from someone else but they weren't sure either. But that's okay hopefully for the Fall I will be back to normal with my regular grants. You attended the orientation last wednesday right?

hey could anyone tell me the two electives that were recommended if we choose to take pathophysiology in the summer

i lost the payer with the list of all the courses we could register for

i know there were two course and it was NURS 4*** (i dont know the course number)

any help would be much appreciated

and @Michele, this is Michelle from orientation. I talked to the financial aid ppl bc i am in the same predicament as you. The other grants are not usually readily available in the spring bc they were all rewarded in the fall. thats what really sucks about applying the the spring i guess bc i too recieved about 4 other grants from my prior school.. I only got a pell grant and a loan

@akwugo7 I know I've heard that a lot about the grants. So I wasn't expecting but one grant. The class is nurs 4123 you can take M02 with CRN # 21392 or MM2 CRN # 22805 both classes are on thurs 2-4:50pm.

@akwugo7 yes it really sucks because they should have some sort of limit of grants that are issued out to fall students in order for the spring students to be able to receive the grants as well.
