Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

Yes, I was a little confused because you said we could not take the NCLEX until the "end of the program." In my mind I was thinking at the end of three years or two years depending on which program you are in, but what you were actually saying was the end of the med surge portion aka "Pediatrics." Got you.

Since you are so jealous about the scrubs I will make a deal with you? I will trade you my white scrubs for your place in the accelerated program. See those scrubs aren't so great any more. LOL. Just a little advice for everyone purchasing a stethoscope, purchase a Litttmon 3M. They may cost a bit more but they are well worth the extra money. You will wish you had when you do your first bp with a cheap one. The difference between a cheap one and a 3M are like night and day which is why most DR's, nurses and other professionals use them. You have been warned. :nono:

Wow, so you got everything we need for $60?! That's awesome! Jennell, I'll give you the phone number of the doctor that "Y" recommended to us, and you can go to her if you want.

Oh no not everything. 60 USD was for the stethoscope, the blood pressure cuff, the penlight, the weird scissors we need, and some other stuff. It was the whole kit.

The uniform was 40 for the set. The patch cost 1.60 to sew it on but I am not sure the actual coast of the patch. And I bought cute Mary Jane style nursing shoes with a little buckle. They are the cutest nursing shoes I have ever seen though I am not yet an expert on this kind of stuff.

Sorry don't mean to keep hashing this out. What I said was...

You cannot take the NCLEX for your RN until you are finished with the program. However all students can take the LVN/LPN/ADN (every part of the country calls it something different) after you have finished pediatrics....

Because the RN is different from the LVN. So yes after pediatrics we can take the NCLEX for the LVN/LPN/ADN. But that exam is way more limited than the RN exam. There are a lot less things one can do with only the LVN and it is a lot harder to find a job with the only the LVN. Many hospitals are completely phasing it out. None of us can take the NCLEX for the RN until we are completely finished with the program.

I don't think so mister. I spend a very long time getting all my previous degrees. Keep your white uniform. Hey at least we don't have to worry about stains on our green striped ones that will hide a lot.

By the way nauhjat what does your name mean? It looks Indian to me? By the way are you the Persian surfer from CA that met with Eduardo recently?

I was under the impression that after pediatrics we could take the NCLEX as if it were for an ADN, and as far as I understood ADN+NCLEX=RN and BSN+NCLEX=RN.

If I'm mistaken It doesn't change much. I just would rather get the NCLEX out of the way ASAP.

I'm not Persian, but I do surf and met E a while back.

I think the scrubs are cute!...... :) i have worked in a medical office for 8 yrs and i wear scrub every single day at first it's awesome and yeah its like wearing PJ's then after awhile u get tired of wearing them cause u start to feel like a bumm!............. LoL

So is it ok if you just have titers of all ur immunzations including MMR? what other vacc do u need? bc i had the HepB vacc when i was in 8th grade and i don't think i will be able to my immunization record.

OK I am going to just keep my mouth shut on this one because I think I am confusing everyone and what I have in my head may not be what really will happen. So if a former grad could chime in and straighten me out please do so. Thanks!

Nope I know it is not you Mike unless your real name is something like Stuart or Stephan or something like that. E was talking about some surfer from CA that had a first name that started with an “S.”

My gripe with the scrubs is the guys get any old white scrubs and we have these striped hospital green ones. I did a CNA course last summer to help get me into nursing school because some CA state schools give brownie points for those things. Anyway, we had to buy a certain color but we could buy and brand and some brands are way more flattering to the figure than others. With our hospital green scrubs they are made by this Uniform company and we are stuck with this one brand. But I am over it. There are much more important things to worry about.

Yeah a titer would be fine. If you just got it recently there would be no reason to get it again so you would do a titer.

If you had the Hep B series in the past I don't know if you need it again. I don't know if it is a 10 year immunity vaccine like MMR or if it is for life.

As far as i know the Hep B is for life u don't have to get it again. I had the titer 4 yrs ago. I might just get it again so that it's recent and include the MMR. Is their any other vaccines we need?

For those who were wondering, we called the doctor that "Y" recommended, and getting the health certificate there costs $30.

$30...not bad at all. Im still wondering if Hep B and MMR are the only vacc we need to have?

Also, does anyone know where we purchase books?
