Sounds like everything is going great. What are rents like in Las Cumbres?

I looked at 3 places that were all 2 bedroom, 1 bath. One was 775 and the other 2 were 750. They are a little more expensive than what we were budgeting but they are 1/4 mile from the school and really nice. "E" said I would find places this nice anywhere else.

When i was their in May i met "E" and yeah is a character and very nice. I am waiting to see if i will be accepted into the accelerated program, im supposed to call the admissions office and hope that someone will talk to me on the phone! when i was their last month they where all on vacation (figure that!)....If not i will be contacting "E" since he's the only helpful one. Well i hope the orientation answers a lot of questions. Im moving to PR July 26th and staying in a "dorm" girls only, it's about 5 minutes from the school in Rio Piedras.

A dorm? Are you planning to live there the whole year? Can I ask how much that will cost per month?

I'll have to post more later when I have details in front of me about orientation. It has been a loooong day and I had 5 hours sleep last night. It seemed everyone at orientation was a bit tired today.

After orientation labsrock and I spent the rest of the day translating the rental contract, making copies of the rental contract getting keys made, and getting the grand tour of the neighborhood while out new landloard showed us ever nook and crany. Wanda was awesome but it was a long day. We were with her over 7 hours today which was a lot.

So you can get the health cert literally from any doctor anywhere. The police certificate you can get at the station next to Plaza Las Americas and they cost 1.50 cents each and it was suggested to have several of the originals on hand because you will need them for clinicals.

We registered for classes today and I signed up for all the suggested 1st trimester classes on the accelerated track plus a beginning Spanish class. ;-)

The orientation was presented by the director. It was way more organized than I ever could have imagined and it went smooth except it was 2.5 hours which was a bit long. Then actually going to register was at least another hour so it was an ordeal.

It was a very productive day between orientation and registration and signing a lease and writing a check for a deposit. I clocked out apartment and it is 1/2 a kilometer or 1/3 of a mile from school. I think I will bike it.

Anyway I am whipped and heading off to bed. When I have more energy and the the papers in front of me I can provide more info like the adress to purchase the uniforms or the exact classes we were instructed to register for.

Oh and it is very clear that if you have a Bachelors degree you will be doing the accelerated program.

Im staying at a house owned by a gentlemen he only rent's it out to female students, hence why i call it a "dorm" I am paying $325 a month (all utilities, cable, internet included) I have a friend who is staying their as well. I don't really plan on staying their the whole time that im in school. So, do we need more than one original police report? because i have one original and just made copies of it. I also went and purchased my uniform so basically all i need now is the medical certificate. Did they talk about clinicals? What hospitals they do the clinicals?

Yes they said some hospitals will accept the copy of the police report. Other schools want the original and will not accept the copy. The cost 1.50 each so I am probably going to get at least a half a dozen to be safe.

She rattled off a bunch of different hospitals where clinicals will be held but none of the hospitals meant anything to me. Those of us that are in the accelerated program start clinicals August 2nd the day school starts. So we have to make sure we have everything like police certificates and uniforms and all the rest.

Those of you that are not in the accelerated program have another year to get that stuff.

Hello!!! Just a quick question. So if you are not in the accelerated program you don't take any of your nursing courses with clinicals until the following year? What? I thought I would be able to apply for my RN the first year. That sucks!!! Not sure if you know but I will ask anyway, what do the people who are not on the accelerated program take the first year?Hmmmm?????????? Thanks for all the info!!!!!!!

You cannot take the NCLEX for your RN until you are finished with the program. However all students can take the LVN/LPN/ADN (every part of the country calls it something different) after you have finished pediatrics. ******* told us this yesterday. So for the accelerated program this will be after the August to October trimester of 2011 which is trimester number 4. FOr the regular program this will be after trimester number 5 so it will be after Feb 2012.

So I must be wrong about no clinicals the first year for accelerated. I just know that in the accelerated program we start clinicals the very first day of school. Then Yolanda said that if you are not in the accelerated program you would not need your uniform, police report, and other stuff right away. I don't know when the non accelerated people start clinicals.

That is weird because the lady you are referring to "Y" told me you could take your NCLEX after Peds before the program is over which would be the equivalent of an ADN. We shall see. So what classes are you taking first trimester? What do they require to lease a place in PR? thanks.

I think PR Nurse answered my RN NCLEX question earlier. Love this forum.

Does any know how they will get to the clinical sites??!....i wont have a car so maybe someone with a car will volunteer and we can carpool?!!

I was told you could go across the street and get copies of all your books?...does anyone know if this is true? Do we have to pre-order the books that we will need?

When you go to the nursing department they will give you a curriculum that list all the classes, class number and what semester u will be taking them.

I'm pretty sure that "Y" said that we could take the NCLEX after Pediatrics, which for us non-accelerated people would be in February of 2012. I heard the same thing from a super nice former student, but she said that they only did the license for WI, but "Y" said NY, WI, FL and some other states, which I was stoked because I'm from FL. You can also take your PR boards after pediatrics and work here on the island while you finish your BSN.

Hey DM did they give you a list of the classes you will take and the order in which we take them in? I am just a little curious about the time schedule and order in which we take our classes. Thanks for the info.
