Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.
I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

hihopes22,
I haven't quite made the minimum # of posts to PM someone...if you PM me your email (is that weird?), I can get in touch. Or I'll keep posting things until I can use that private message feature! I get into town on Tuesday and be exploring mainly on Wednesday and Thursday before going to check out the rest of the island. Its all somewhat flexible though, depending on what I get done schoolwise.
Thanks!
Kelly
Hey all,
So I am in PR now and visited/applied to La Inter this week. What I am wondering is this: I want to do the Accelerated BSN and I want to start in November instead of August. I have a previous BA, all my credits transferred so that I don't need to do any general ed at Inter, just the nursing courses. The one course that the assistant director told me I absolutely needed was the Basic Principles and Concepts of Nursing, which she said is only offered in August and needed to do any other courses.I may be able to take that course through another school online this summer. How do I catch up if I start later (I need to go back and clarify with the director that it is possible)? Does anyone have any insight into the November start date for the Accelerated BSN? I really want to start in November!! Thanks!

Just so you know if you start in Nov you are thrown in with the non accelerated students that don't have degrees and tend to be a little bit not as serious as the accelerated group.
A friend started in November and it is just him and one other classmate that are accelerated.
And it will be harder to catch up. THere is a new assistant director and will be a new director by next year. THe new assistant director is awesome but she follows the rules which means it may be a little more difficult to catch up and you will be doing Nov to Nov which 24 months insyead of Aug to May which is 22 months.
In the first trimester we take Basic Concepts and Principals of Nursing, Pharmocology, Fundamentals of Nursing and Fundamentals of Nursing clinical.
Hi... Everyone just found this thread and thought it was awsome. I'm currently a student at Umet in cupey but i'm working on transfering to the Bayamon campus that actually has the nurse program in English. That would be my number one reason since i would like to Work in California, i feel i have a better chance on the NCLEX if i do the nursing program in english rather than spanish ... even though im bilingual .. It doesnt hurt to go on the safe side.. My second reason and this one i'm a little unsure .. Its to finish the program sooner ?!?! Hopefully someone here knows if this is true and if so hos much sooner .Btw i'm on finishing my first year of BSN XD yeah for me !!! And will be taking summer classes to get a head start next year .. Good luck to everyone!!

I know a couple people that transfered from UMET Bayamon in the English program to La Inter this past August. I know of at least one more that is definitely leaving UMET for La Inter after this bimester. From what I hear classes get cancelled A LOT at UMET because there may only be 1 or 2 students in a class. That would never happen at La Inter. They would never, not have enough students.
Also ALL the classes at La Inter are in English. I have friends that don't speak Spanish that had to take classes in Spanish at UMET which was a nightmare.
Just look at your options.
UMET's bilingual program just started in 2008 so its barely new compared to la inter's english program. Hence bilingual program... you will get classes in english and in spanish. I go to UMET and Bayamon and I love the fact that our classes our smaller. Yes I've had classmates whose class got cancelled because not many people were signed up but again its because more people choose to go to la inter due to their ADN program and fully english program. Guerra if you're in cupey I'm sure your spanish is well since the nursing program there is FULLY spanish. I'm actually taking two nursing classes in spanish this summer and one in Aug. (my choice). It's a BIG plus if you know spanish!

I'm excited for you! I was hoping to head out there too, but I think I will have to wait a little longer. Where are you staying? Can you PM me and let me know what you found for accommodations? I've heard the school has a place that people can stay but I can never reach anyone at the school, so I'm not sure how to go about reserving it. If you found a great place to stay for a good deal, I'd love to hear about it.
Have a great time!
