Puerto Rico school feedback?

You know now come to think of it I don't know how many of you are going for bachelors but if you are and you don't know if your in accelerated or non accelerated you should find out real soon cause non accelerated means there are some general Ed classes your going to have to take and to be smart you could take them online while your still living at home, so when u do come to PR you already have some classes checked off your list. I been taking GE's and 1 out of like 8 of my classes has only been offered on campus! The rest are either or. I don't recommend online classes cause on campus is more exciting but obviously if you don't live here that would be a smart choice. I had 4 classes last tri and only one was on campus, so for Xmas break instead of going home for 2 wks I took a month off lol. So i would take advantage of still being at home, you can knock some classes out of the way

Thank you for all of the info Calijenn! That's actually exactly what I am hoping to do. I would like to take as many classes online as possible prior to going there. I know History of Puerto Rico is one online class, and Christian Faith is another one. But I don't know what other classes I can take online. I keep trying to call the school, but you know how that goes :)

Lol yeah, you can take English online, as well as sum other humanities classes. First you have to find out which ones are waived for you then go from there but honestly I think the only class u have to take on campus is English 3 and all Spanish courses (mandatory)

Do I have to apply before I am able to see which of my courses transfer over? Will I find that out when I go visit and apply at the school?

Yeah they do it when they process your information just do it all web u get here it's easier they take forever anyways so freakin slow these people

That is right, most of your Gen eds can be taken online and can be a smart move if you take them before coming here. I took a lot in June and July summer terms and took Spanish 2 by exam so I only have Spanish 3 left. From my experience (and my brother who also attends a different trimester program), the last thing you get is the courses that transfer. In fact, my brother never got his and had to go in.

Also as part of the application it says to send your social security card, and all that info. Honestly i'm a little nervous about that. I want to take online courses before I move to PR but I don't want to risk these things getting lost in the mail or something. Is there anyway to scan and email the information to the right person or are my only options to go directly there or mail it? I have left email and like so many others I am having trouble getting through. :banghead:

The school doesn't do things the same way all the time. For example: they told me you couldn't test out of Spanish (I asked the department) and I actually got a list of my transferred credits before my acceptance letter, that letter actually came hella late and was delivered to my home in ca while I was already livin in PR. Veronica mailing is the only way sorry girl

Jen thank you for stepping up to help the newbies. Especially since you will be around for a while and I am leaving.

Also there is someone else transferring from UMET to La Inter so I think she will be able to help out too next year.

By the way they hired a new assistant director of nursing and she is awesome. She has a doctorate and studied in the UK. So she is Puerto Rican with a British accent. But she goes by the books and she is going to be very good for the department.

Alright...I'm arriving in San Juan this Tuesday and on the island until April 2nd. I plan to visit La Inter and U Met and apply/register. Any tips for navigating the schools? Head straight to the English Trimester program folks? Anyone in San Juan interested in helping me...I will buy you lunch!
