Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2
Hi Txlvn44, I'm not sure if I will be attending next year. I was planning on going this year, but some circumstances came up that require me to stay. I actually just applied to my local program tonight, so if I'm accepted, then I won't be going there. But I'm still hoping to be able to. I'll keep you posted. I know you've been looking at this school for a long time, like I have. It would be great if we could attend at the same time. I'll let you know if I go.

Puerto Rico school feedback - thread #2
I just want to congratulate everyone who graduated! I will not be attending this year as I originally hoped. But I still want to thank Designer Mommy, World Traveling Yogi, Jen, Calhoon, and everyone else who helped with all of the questions over the years. Congrats again!

Kelly, I didn't notice that you don't have enough posts to send a PM. You need 15 to send one. I'm going to PM you my e-mail address.

I'm excited for you! I was hoping to head out there too, but I think I will have to wait a little longer. Where are you staying? Can you PM me and let me know what you found for accommodations? I've heard the school has a place that people can stay but I can never reach anyone at the school, so I'm not sure how to go about reserving it. If you found a great place to stay for a good deal, I'd love to hear about it. Have a great time!

Thank you for all of the info Calijenn! That's actually exactly what I am hoping to do. I would like to take as many classes online as possible prior to going there. I know History of Puerto Rico is one online class, and Christian Faith is another one. But I don't know what other classes I can take online. I keep trying to call the school, but you know how that goes :)

I have not sent in my application yet. I feel the same way you do - I would rather go to the school directly to get everything handled. I have called the school a few times with general questions last year, but I got mixed information when I called. So I would rather just go there and do it all in person. I will definitely let you know if I go in May. Do you know when in May you are going? I still have no idea when I am going, but I'll be sure to post on here when I have a better idea.

I would definitely try to help people if I get to go. I've been checking into plane tickets and am planning on going to check it out sometime between March and May.

My bad - the application is on page 102.

Hi Veronica, When I emailed "E", it took over a week to get a reply from him, so you'll probably still hear from him - it just takes a while. The application can be found on page 103 of this thread. I believe it's on the school's website too, but I don't remember where. Also, Google Translate is a huge help in getting around their website if you are going to check it out.

Thank you for your reply. I am very interested in doing work trade at the school and I'll be sure to check into that when I go for a visit. That's actually exactly what I am hoping to be able to do when I get there. You've been such a huge help to everyone on this board and I know we all really appreciate your time, advice, the information that you've provided. Thanks again!

Hi Kelly, I have not received any information on that yet. I've read every single post on this thread multiple times over the last couple of years and have a fairly good idea of what to expect job-wise, but it seems that most of the jobs require you to speak Spanish, which I unfortunately do not do at this time. I was hoping for other ideas - other than the ones previously mentioned on this board - that someone could throw out there. If I am able to find a roommate, then I would love to go. I had some friends interested in going last year but they ultimately decided not to go. I do some online stuff so I would have some income, but not enough for rent and all monthly expenses, so I would want a friend to join me in going there. As mentioned by others, I'm sure I could find a roomie once I get there - and I'm sure once I take a trip there to check it out, things will start falling into place. If I hear of anything else though, I'll let you know.

Funny, I just emailed someone from this thread the EXACT same question. I don't see how people can afford to do it without a roommate.

feetinthedirt, you're right. I asked them if there was another start date and they advised me of the one in November. It might be something they only offer after the August start-date has passed though. I'm not really sure how that works. If I don't make it into my local program this year, I will likely head that way. I wanted to go to Puerto Rico last year but could not afford to move at that time. Keeping my fingers crossed for this year...
