Working on writing a paper. One section asks "what are some issues that are in the public policy arena now that nurses should address, either positively or negatively." I know what issues are important to me but am curious what everyone else views as being important?

What issues are important to you? Give us a jumping off point :)
For me a couple are access to healthcare for the homeless, ban on mandatory overtime for nurses, expansion of roles of advance practice nurses

Organ donation awareness with push for increased registration of potential donors.
(There's a current series on donations.)

I don't know where you are geographically, but here there is an opiod epidemic eating away at all aspects of healthcare delivery and little done for prevention.
Affordability of preventive care for everyone. To me, it doesn't have to be an insurance issue so much as a question of why we can't make basic preventive care affordable in and of itself. The cost of "going to the doctor" unless you're dying keeps far too many people away
