Wonderful! Just keep being who you are, nickfitz- otherwise, you'll be somebody else!

This next cartoon is based on an actual situation told to me just last shift by the real Jacob Rockstar-RN which involved the real Ranger Rodd:

You know, the dude with the 'stache and the pizza scrubs? Yea, him.

Thanks for letting No Stars know about my whereabouts, Farawyn.

This Cartoon involving Jacob Rockstar-RN and Sissybee is Gero Psych related, so I thought I'd Post it here, also:

I was receiving report last MN shift which included a Gero Patient who had been acting out during Eves. The reporting Nurse had left a couple of messages for the Psychiatrist with a status report and request for a PRN. The MD returned the calls during shift report and the evening Nurse took the telephone order, but it was up to me to administer the zyprexa 5mg IM/Po x1 for psychosis.

The Patient was delusional, believing People were out to kill her, hyperverbal with flight of ideas, wandering into Peers' rooms, and difficult to redirect. I approached her and informed her of the Doctor's order. She requested information on the medication, even though I informed her that she was taking this medication and this was just an extra dose. Still, she wanted written information, so I ran off a copy of a Patient Education sheet on zyprexa.

I glanced over the information while walking back to this delusional Patient who thought People were out to kill her and read the first line which stated, "There is a higher chance of death in older adults who take this drug for mental problems..."

"Great", I thought, "This is really going to help the cause!"

The Patient had trouble focusing which served the cause, for she didn't read the information sheet, merely received it and held it in her hand. The Patient focused on other things like her relatives, mortgage, etc. I said, "We can talk about all that after you take your medicine. We can do nothing about your relatives or your mortgage right now. Your medicine is the priority right now".

The Patient took the zyprexa, but only after I answered one final question for her:

Now, Farawyn, even though he says he loves it, let's call our new Character by his proper name: Richard Witz RN!

JRRNPNAF, thanks for the drink. I prefer whine, but I'll stir the Schlitz a bit, too.

(How did you convince the new guy to have a drink with a non specialized clinician's?)

I used to be a Schlitz man but it got too hard to find down here. I'm glad JRRNPNAF survived the rubbish barrel. I'll bet that was a real cleansing event. I was worried.

Yea. My Grandpa drank Schlitz. Just sayin'. :bag:

Never doubt an Action Figure!

He came out of the rubbish and is getting us trashed.

Thanks, Old Dude!

You know, the vast majority of these characters and situations are based on real people and true events, right? But there's an old question that asks, "Does art follow life or does life follow art?" These cartoons and such follow life, but please allow me to share some recent events where the opposite has occurred:

I was attempting to put the Rockstar action figure on a small bicycle sculpture when I cracked his leg. I casually mentioned this to the Real Jacob Rockstar-RN. A short time later, about a week ago, Jacob experienced an infection in his leg that required treatment with vancomycin. The cause of the infection is idiopathic- possibly a spider bite. Jacob's Mom believes the Action Figure is a voodoo doll.

Of course I scoffed, at first. But then I remembered that I had broken the MMNN action figure's left arm last spring. My left shoulder has been bothering me for over a month now, weeks before Jacob's infection. I've been treated by my Chiropractor, done stretches, exercises, heat, ice, and ibuprofen with some relief. I haven't injured it recently- the only cause we could come up with was ceasing my September/October wood splitting routine.

Odd, eh?

What do you all think?

Thanks, Old Dude!
