Have I made the right decision ?

Hello Nurses !

I need advice from all of you :)

I was wondering if it is the right decision for me to work in the psychiatric hospital . Recently, I was offered a job as a psychiatric nurse there , but I have not yet to take up this post as I was afraid that I might change my mind + my parents were against my decision .

I have the necessary qualities needed for a psych nurse .If I don't work in a psych hospital , I know it would be a waste of my potential ..

I am of the opinion that not every nurse is suited for psych. like with other specialties, you need to have that gift. you seen to feel that you do. it is important also to do what you love...as for me I love working psych the pts, the nurses everything about it. go for it if you find you aren't suited for it you can always change jobs later on

You sound like you want it, so I'm wondering what is holding you back?

Not many people are drawn to psych, and if you know you are, it seems like a shame to waste it. :D

Dear deadnurse,

What are the qualities that you think are important in psyche nursing. What, from your experience is the "gift" that you are referring to? I have a reason for asking, but I am curious about your answer and would like you to be more specific.

Well, there is a general hospital who offers a better prospect comapred to the Insitute of Mental Health ,Hospital. So currently, I 'm still considering these two hospital ...But I will inform you guys when I made my final decision !
