I attempted to search where is a good place (can be on the internet) to buy cheap art supplies for psych groups? The patients that I work for are 18+ (some even in their 90's at times). The patients that are allowed in groups may be acute, but they tend to be the best of the best if you have ever worked at a state hospital. It is mostly depression, some bi-polar, a few schizophrenic, and a dusting of dementia. I know that things can always happen, but I have had good experience beyond safety scissors.

In a nut shell: I want cheap acyclic paint and other basic supplies.

P.S. When I tried to search this within psych, it tended to be group ideas for children or should a person learn marital arts. I have no inkling about children and learn some martial arts.

Everywhere I've worked in psych, the OTs and rec therapists have been in charge of (and had a budget for) obtaining and maintaining art supplies for the unit.

A lot of these places have coupons in the Sunday papers, and Michael's, JoAnn, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby and the other craft stores frequently run 25% off purchase sales. You'd be wise to sign up for their mailing lists to get notified of them.

HI, glad to hear that you are going to be trying to implement something on your unit. Our art therapist uses Blick art supplies, found at dickblick.com I swear that its a legit website.

we also have some red cross supplies that are brought it. Other local service organizations might be able to help you out with the cost of this type of program.
