Has anyone heard of such a thing. My school doesnt offer lvn anymore but offers the psych tech program. I was thinkin about applying for it in august since I won't be able to apply to the RN program since I still.need to take micro. I'm a single mom and time really isn't on my side not to mention I think I will end up with a b or c in my physio class. Not good. So I was thinking of applying.to the psych tech program to either.bridge somewhere else if possible or just to have extra experience in health care. Does anyone ever.gone through the psych tech program or know if, I can bridge with it likr an lvn to RN. Sorry if any spelling or grammatical errors; I'm typing on my phone : l

I have never heard of a psych tech to RN program. It is either lpn-rn, lpn-bsn, or paramedic to RN

I agree.

I have never heard of a psych tech to RN bridge program... but apparently some do exist! I googled "psych tech to RN bridge program" just out of curiosity. For example, one of the search results was for a "Rio Hondo College" in California. I know absolutely nothing about the school or program... just saying a link to their website came up in my search results. I briefly looked at their website and according to what I saw they offer a two-year bridge program for psych techs to obtain an Associate's Degree in Nursing. Several other schools from California came up in my search results as well, with similar bridge programs. I would research such programs (in depth if possible) before deciding to go this route though, just in case something questionable comes up. Best of luck!

Yes, there is such a thing. In California there's a school, Mt Sac. Once you complete the psych tech program, you can bridge to the RN program.

There may be bridge programs but state requirements are still going to be the same, which means either way it's going to be RN requirements minus whatever pre-reqs you've already taken, so I doubt the timeframe would be much different.

There was a psych tech in the BSN program at SJSU decades ago. He was in the advanced placement program along with LVNs and others who were in advanced placement. Don't know present criteria for SJSU. Check their website. However, the OP started this thread in 2013, I certainly hope she is an RN with a BSN by now! For that matter, hope she is in advanced practice!
