Psych Nursing in Canada

Published

Any Canadian Psych Nurses out there want to give their experiences on their PNing job?:)

How much research have you done on nursing in Canada?

Which part of the country do you plan to settle in?

Western Canada educates Psychiatric Nurses as specialist RNs using a different educational path with emphasis on mental health. The east has no specialized programmes that I'm aware of.

The term PN referes to practical nurses.

practical nurses in bc are usually referred to as LPN's here and RPN's are known as something else in the east so I figured the title was enough for you or anyone else to put 2 and 2 together with my own abbreviation lol. I have done enough research to know what I need. What I am looking for is just personal experiences from people in the profession and not advice on school or licencing. Yes I have talked to nurses here, yes i personally know psych nurses, yes i know what i require to work as one. I just like multiple viewpoints. :smokin:

CanadianWolverine,

Fiona59 was attempting to help you, and offered some helpful information. Your response seems quite rude. You won't be finding many people wanting to respond to your post with that kind a snarky response.

If you are going to continue using allnurses, please be more respectful of other members.

Thanks

I fail to see where I was insulting or rude. In fact it was quite explanatory and concise. Perhaps you could point it out exactly Brian.

Perhaps you don't realize this, but your responses do come across rudely. Same as with another thread you started. It seems as though when people aren't giving you the response you want, you respond rudely. Welcome to a free forum. The beauty is, we do not always agree. However, we are expected to act respectfully. And, I might add, since you seem to already know everything, why the need to ask us? Clearly, you don't value the opinion of nurses who are already working in the field.

You apparently know it all so why are you asking questions?

You were rude to Brian. That was uncalled for.

i was not rude in any way ladies.

you better get prepared for me and people like me. this is a man's world and soon their will be a large amount of males in nursing. we do not take your crap. we will call you on anything you do. frankly with the amount of moaning, complaining and whining on this site the nursing trade is in dire need of a shot or 100 of testosterone.

same as we will call you on your behaviour. brian and bb members have decided how our professional nursing website will operate ---guidelines explained in our terms of service that you agreed to at sign-up.

those that do not choose to play nicely in our sandbox will be refused entrance next visit.
