Prospect nursing career in BC, Canada

World Registration

Published

Hi,

I am a foreign trained nurse, I just immigrant to Vancouver, Canada.

I am thinking to register with CRNBC, but I heard job market is very bad here, especially for internationally trained nurses. I have a few questions about the CRNBC:

1. is that re-entry program is a must for all foreign nurses? Can I take this program first before I take my SEC?

2. do they still need 250 practice hours before I get my RN license?

3. is there anyone has successful story getting a job here after receiving the license?

Hi..

1. IELTS/CELBAN band scores must be submitted to CRNBC upon application.

2. They might let you take SEC, but 98-99% of the applicants are being required to undergo a 1 year re-entry program depending on their years of experience etc.. Re-entry program is very helpful because the Canadian health care system is really diverse and different from other countries.

3. You will certainly have more than 400 clinical hours along with your re-entry program (it's a package). --It's really helpful.

4. Just be positive and have faith in your own abilities. Prayer will move mountains. :) - BC is a developing province. Vancouver is a highly competitive city, but there are now a lot of developing cities in BC. Just be positive with life. Do not listen with negative ideas. Just pray.

I grew up in BC. It' highly insulting to hear it described as a 'developing province' from someone who migrated from a third world country.

Yes, it is a highly competitive job market, but Canadian employers expect a high standard of education and skills in their employees.

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

What do you mean by stating BC is a developing province?

Specializes in Home Care.

Pray tell what is developing in BC and it's cities.
