Ok I have a question. What is the proper way to list your credentials? I've seen Susy K, RN, BSN and Susy K, BSN, RN. Why do some people put the BSN first? Does it mean anything?
Originally posted by Susy KOk, Stargazer, I took your idea and perused my author listings, and most of them list licensure first, as you've stated, with the exception of ONE PERSON:
The lovely Jean Watson, Ph.D, RN, FAAN. Gee. Go figure.
So she's an idiot in more than one regard?
You don't like Jean Watson? Isn't she the nurse theorist who focused on caring and nursing???
I'm bewildered!

Ted, when you've got a couple of hours to spare, you might want to check out this thread.
Actually, I can't believe you missed it the first time--it was HUGE!

NO, I don't care for Jean Watson.
Sorry. . . I missed the thread that you started on Jean Watson. I hardly know the gal. I most certainly couldn't love or even care for a patient as I would towards my wife or my parents. But there is a bit of a basic caring bent in me that I think I share to the patients in my nursing. . . at the very least a basic respect. (It's impossible to like and care for everyone and every personality! )
Cheers!
Edward Fiebke, BM, BSN, RN, OCN, FAAN, FAART
(Well, I used to be OCN certified. Doubt I'll ever be a "FAAN". . . however the FAART thing fits like a glove!)
It amazes me that people are not happy with just being refered to as an RN. Why all the alphabet soup ? When I got my certifications, I did it to increase my knowledge, not to impress anyone. Nursing will never become a true profession until we as a group unite, instead of insisting that we must show one is better than another.

Are you kidding me?!?!? I want to have a name badge that's at least several inches long containing as many letters as possible. Even if I have to make them up! :chuckle :roll :chuckle
Ted
(And I want the name badge to be gold plated with diamond dust letter that twinkle like little stars!)
