  1. How do you deal with patients who don't want to be seen by an NP?

I experience this every now and then in a primary care community team but I think some of it has to do with the fact that I am new to the team and less with the fact that I am an NP. I respond similar to some of the above posts by saying “I am happy ...
  2. 5 minute clinical consult

I personally would buy the most recent copy albeit it's less information and fewer pages but at least you can be rest assured you have the most up-to-date information.
  3. Very very nervous ANCC

If it is any constellation I wrote AANP FNP last month and prior to going into that exam I felt like you did. Keep in mind that certification exams are testing the most basic entry-level competencies. They don't expect you to know what an NP working ...
  4. Failed CNA exam Skills part. Is this fair?

If it means that you will have a fair review of your assessment, I would say you have nothing to lose by asking for a review. Maybe you will be able to explain the circumstances to other faculty who may see things your way and have your test re-asses...

  7. FNP student - need clinical specialty suggestions

It sounds like if acute care has been where you spent the majority of your career then the ACNP program would be more suited than FNP. However, I have known folks who have worked in acute care and wanted to make a complete change and thus pursue FNP ...
  8. What diagnostics can NPs order independently

Ok great. So for testing purposes, I am under the impression that NPs can order whatever test is necessary for the patient. Thank you for your help.
  9. Oh, my aching feet!!!!

If you don't want to invest in a fancy foot roller yet, try freezing a bottle of water and rolling it over each foot like the person above describes. The cold from the bottle might also help to give you some relief.
  10. What diagnostics can NPs order independently

Hi everyone, I am getting ready to write the AANP next month and as a Canadian-trained NP student, I am not too familiar with what diagnostic tests NPs are authorized to order. I know in Ontario, Canada, NPs cannot order CTs and MRIs, therefore, one ...
