  1. thank you both! that really calms me haha Im sure I will be okay as the residents were all wonderful people, I believe I will look past in quickly! thank you again!
  2. Hi, i have recently accepted a job as a DSP at a group home for disabled adults. I wanted to try it out before committing to a costly CNA program. A lot of CNA duties are included in training. i.e. utilizing a hoyer, bed baths, tube feeding, and changing briefs. I am a bit worried about changing people is it really bad at first, did you get used to it quickly? This is my first occupation in the medical field so I am very nervous. My ultimate goal would be to be to gain experience at this place (as the pay is very low, $10.25) and later do the CNA class and working as a live-in. But I am just so nervous. How was it your first time around? thank you!
  3. Yeah I'm the same way, I'm not the greatest at it but when I get it I really love it haha, I will have to get over that fear as you did btw great score!
  4. Lets keep in mind in order to legally work in Europe, you must be an EU citizen, unless you get some sort of visa via marriage or a company asks to employ you. Its very complex, and at the moment the UK is one of the only countries with a massive lack of nurses, BUT their training is different than ours, they specialize from the start and their pay is A LOT lower than ours ( start pay: $28,000 before tax) , hospitals tend to be gravely understaffed. In the other western countries (the more desirable countries to live in) i.e. Spain, Portugal, France, Italy graduated nurses are struggling to find jobs in their countries so I doubt you'd find a position before an EU citizen (unless you are) and without the EU education, especially in this economic crises that hit these countries very hard.
  5. Thank you so much for your advice! how much did you pay for you personal tutor and how many sessions with them to receive that score? Intermediate algebra is the only math requirement but i may just take College algebra incase i apply to another that requires it! do you think your tutors at school helped at all? I may have to take 2 sciences in the summer to be able to apply for 2019, i think they will be Micro and intro to bio!
  6. oh okay, that IS true! thanks for the info
  7. @prereqtaker89 really? 20hrs a week for an intro class? thats a lot!
  8. yeah to be honest, I am fairly good at math IF I TRY and understand the formulas and all, al of HS I achieved late Cs without trying and when i did try and understood i actually loved math and got an A...I think I am capable with effort, are you a tutor in CC? I was thinking of stopping by the tutoring office a couple times a week throughout the school year do you think it helps? thank you xx
  9. great i will use your tips absolutely why do you think you achieved a C in Bio 1 do you think it will take time for me to develop study habits as well? and is Bio 2 in your school A&P? thank you for your tips xx
  10. I too am very nervous to start i am worried i won't know how to study so I've been searching youtube as well for tips from previous students, I am okay at math if i try and put effort i do really well, i only tested into intermediate but thats all i need for the program so I'm just happy i avoided remedial classes! thats sounds amazing! Im really willing and determined to put as much effort as possible (not like HS) this is actually important to me... and absolutely worth my time LOL...thank you so much for the advice! I really appreciate your insight! xx
  11. I am starting my prerequisites this fall. I am very nervous, because I did mediocre to average in math/ science throughout high school (then again, i didn't really try at all) but any way, would you say those classes are very difficult at CC.What are some of your study tips? thanks.
  12. Yeah I have no commitments other than work & school, I just wanted and idea of what others do... thank you for sharing your experience
  13. I'm starting my prerequisites soon, i am taking English composition (3 credits) , Freshman Seminar (3 credits) , intermediate algebra (4 credits), and Human Biology (or just intro to Bio depending) (4 credits). I have to work whilst studying, and I just want an idea of what others are have done with this type of course load, how much time have you devoted to studying? Is the recommended 3hs per credit accurate? Thank you
  14. Do you mind posting what your GPA/ TEAs scores were? Thank you! Congrats!!!
  15. Did everyone mantain good marks whilst studying and working full time? Thank you for the responders
  16. I don't r really have any obligations, no kids, husband, etc.. it would just be work
  17. How many hours do you believe are fesible whilst studying for example, A+P2 and ENGLISH COMP2 ? Thank you in advance to the responders.
  18. I am doing exactly that, just because of my worries of finding a job in any sector of work, I will only be completing an ADN, since it is also very affordable... if it all works out, gen I would continue on to a BSN.
  19. Yes, in CT, it is considered equivalent, and thats what I considered as a big point in my decision making, unfortunately the course is very expensive around here, and if i could become a CNA during NS maybe it may not be worth dishing out the money
  20. The programs near me don't require it at all, and they don't really mention anything about getting CNA cert but I am sure it would benefit. I am working as a waitress, and make pretty decent money doing so, I would be able to take the CNA course during the winter term, but it is quite a lot of money to dish out I am about to start prerequisites
  21. The CNA courses in my area Cost from $1000-$1500 So I don't know if it would be worth dishing out that money now for the experience, or waiting till after the first semester of NS? Opinions?
  22. Well I do want to work in health care not in any type of office job, it's just that securing a job after studying is the whole point in even studying, so if in any course of study you have to be worried about finding a job after, it's probably not worth studying. I just want to get in idea on how the future will be for nursing and other allied health professions.
  23. How long till you got your dream ICU job, was it after the 6-12 month period in Medsurg? Thanks for your intake.
  24. Wow awesome to hear, thanks for the intake!
  25. Unlike many I actually want a job working with older folk, in a nursing home like environment. I know most desire hospital jobs, but that wouldn't be my first choice, do you think it's a bit easier than hospital positions? Thank you for the reply.
