  1. No, cops usually will not ticket healthcare workers (unless you are seriously violating the law - drunk, etc.) out of professional courtesy. They frequent the ER with ETOH pts, people they have arrested and need clearance, line of duty injuries, etc. and we always treat them with professional courtesy by getting them in and out as quickly as possible, often taking them before other pts, so they show healthcare workers the same respect.
  2. I had bariatric surgery almost six years ago and lost 162 pounds, this might be an option for you if you are interested as you have a significant amount of weight to lose just as I did. I finally decided I had to do something when I was coming home from work every morning with ankle edema as well as high blood pressure and an elevated A1C. It really hit me when I was working in cardiac telemetry and had patients that were my age (26 at the time) who were there because they were morbidly obese and it was putting their body under too much stress. I'm very happy I chose to have the surgery as a tool to help me lose weight and be more comfortable at work and I would make the same decision tomorrow to have the surgery. As far as patients not taking you seriously, I only ever had issues with psych, combative, or 'confused' patients who would say horrible things to me, it was hurtful, but I pushed on with the thought that they were not in their right mind during those moments. Good of luck to you!
  3. Brooks Addiction 12! Expensive, but so worth it! No more knee, ankle, or lower back pain since I bought them. They also correct your pronation, so they actual made me sore for the first week because I've been walking incorrectly for years! If you go to Trauma, don't buy Dankso's, Nurse Mates, Crocs, or any other clog type shoe or clog shoe with a platform as well, you will be running constantly and you will break your neck. I'm in the ER, we all wear sneakers.
  4. Crash cart supplies are not a PCT responsibility, they are the responsibility of the RN when they do their daily logs and checks per shift, regardless of having several codes, the charge RN is supposed to take care of this after each code.
  5. Why are you so concerned with this? It doesn't affect you, let her be.
