    Traveling to Kaiser in Sacramento

Hello! I am doing my first travel nurse assignment through American Mobile and am going to Sacramento, CA where I am from. I will be working at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in the Telemetry unit. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do for health insurance? I am not sure if I will for sure stay with the same travel agency on my next assignment but just want to have options. I was also wondering if Kaiser’s nurses place IV’s themselves? I am coming from Mayo Clinic where we do not place our own IV’s or place our own Foley catheters. Also, do the nurses where navy blue scrubs? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Applying for UC Davis or UCSF

Hello! I currently work at Mayo Clinic in the Vascular Progressive Care unit in Rochester, Minnesota & will be finishing up my first year of being a nurse by next month! Although I love working at Mayo Clinic, the quality of life in Rochester, Minnesota just isn’t for me. I am originally from California and plan to move back sometime around May or June when my lease is up. I would like to apply to UC Davis or UCSF in March. I would really appreciate some advice on what could help me get a job in the ICU at either of these hospitals. Is it hard to get a job at UC Davis or UCSF? What do you they like to see in an application. How is the commute & is it affordable to be a single nurse living in either San Francisco or Sacramento? If I’m trying to move in May or June, when is a good time to apply? Any advice is very much appreciated! Thank you!!

UCSF vs UC Davis vs Mayo Clinic

Yes Mayo treats us very well! I love working for Mayo clinic but I am just not a big fan of living in Rochester :/

UCSF vs UC Davis vs Mayo Clinic

Hello, so I am currently working as an RN at Mayo Clinic in the vascular surgery PCU in Rochester, MN. I was considering moving back home to Sacramento, CA. I moved from CA to MN in February of this year and working for Mayo Clinic has been such an amazing experience but I would like to get into the ICU (preferably the cardiac) once my year is up or maybe a little after that. I do not know if I will stay with Mayo or move back home to California where my desire to work would be UCSF or UC Davis. I was wondering how the nurses who work for these organizations like working there or if the pay for the cost of living is worth it. Maybe just some advice for anyone working at either UCSF or UC Davis. Also maybe considering just staying at Mayo Clinic for my ICU experience before I try to go back for graduate school. Any advice would be appreciated & would help make my decision a lot easier. Please & thank you!

Oh yes my friend is at the Methodist hospital for ortho! Yeah definately check out Grandeville at Cascade Lake, Woodridge and Quarry Ridge. Those were my favorite. Also checking out some restaurants including Canadian Honker which has pretty good food and drinks. You should also see the Gonda building as it has a really cool cancer and research center as well as a museum! Yes getting together would be fun! I take the NCLEX this friday and am freaking out!! I find out monday and if I pass, I will hopefully be moving in on the 8th I think but not sure yet.

Yes I have! I will be living at Grandeville at Cascade Lake with a 4 bed 2 bath with some friends from nursing school. Wbu? I will be alone there for a week as I will be waiting for my roommates to move in. Hopefully we can meet up when we start! Are you at St. Mary's? Have you visited Rochester, MN? They flew me out their 3 weeks ago and I loved it!!

I would think you would be more positive in such a great oppurtunity such as this instead of bashing on another nurse. We should all be excited for each other and seeing comments such as yours is very depressing. I had my clinicals at the Mayo in Phoenix and I would prefer to work at the main Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. They flew me out there and I fell in love with how the entire town is literally Mayo Clinic. Not to mention, the one in Rochester is the number 1 hopsital in the nation. I am excited work for a hospital that is well respected in a city such as Rochester as a new graduate where I will be able to gain such great experience. This is only my first year and I am free to move whenever I would like if I choose to. Please keep your negativity off this forum, thank you.
