ER_BiscuitStripes is a BSN, RN, EMT-B and specializes in the Emergency Department.

My former username was EDboundSN, but I'm no longer ED bound and no longer as Student Nurse, but am an ER nurse!

ER = I work in the ER

Biscuit = Hockey (and I love TN biscuits too!)

Stripes = Referee

I work in the ER and I'm a hockey referee!

I graduated from the Accelerated BSN program at California State University San Marcos.  After graduation, I moved to Nashville, TN where I currently work in the Emergency Department.  I have 5 years experience prior to nursing as an ER Tech and EMT-B working on an ambulance and providing emergency medical training for law enforcement.

How far out is NCLEX-RN scheduling? May 2020 COVID

It’s a California’s state school. We finished 5/8. The instructors have until 5/21 to submit grades to cal state. Cal state then has two weeks to input them into our official record which extends us to 6/5. Then it goes to a different office and they have another 2 weeks to confer degrees, which puts us at 6/19. Then we can order transcripts. Takes 7-10 business day’s to process. That puts me the week of June 29th or early July. Then it takes state of TN where I applied a week or two to process transcripts so that puts me mid July. When I finished first week of May. Crazy.

How far out is NCLEX-RN scheduling? May 2020 COVID

I don't understand why my school takes 10 weeks to get our stuff to the state and get us ATTs when ya'll are literally getting them same day. Good for ya'll, just a bummer for me haha.

    TriStar Nurse Residency Summer 2020

I don't really remember what questions they asked, I usually forget the moment I walk out and it's been about three months now, sorry! I've worked as an ER tech for years now and I'm a military veteran so I think those were the two things that really set me apart.

How far out is NCLEX-RN scheduling? May 2020 COVID

I graduated two weeks ago. We're not expected to get our ATT's until the first or second week of July. I went to California State University.

WOW! 4 days after graduation, that's the fastest ATT I've ever heard of! My school takes 8-10 weeks after graduation! But thank you for the encouragement , I appreciate it...it's definitely a stressful time, especially when I already have a job and I know I won't make the start date.

    Any National Guard RNs?

Looking to see if there are any RNs in the National Guard on this forum? I'm a prior service active duty Army enlisted, considering maybe commissioning in the guard as an O-1 as an RN. I was wondering what you do during your drills and two week drill each year? Are you training, actually working, both? Do they take your nursing specialty into consideration? For example, I'm going to be starting as a new grad in the ED, would I have the ability to work in the ED with the guard, or could they put me on any unit in a hospital? What are the odds of being deployed and how far in advance do they normally give you? What are the deployment areas for NG RNs right now? Thanks again!

Yeah, I’m in the Nashville area and I’m willing to drive. I’ve been studying since March so I’m ready to take it today if I was able to. I just won’t want to lose my job because I can’t get a test date in time, I accepted this position before all the lockdowns.

WOW! July! That’s insane!! I won’t get my ATT until mid June, I won’t be able to test until like September if that’s true!! Where are you from? My job starts 7/10

Anyone who has recently taken, or scheduled to take the NCLEX-RN, how far out was your test date you were able to get? What was the soonest available? What area of the country are you in? I’m cutting it close with my program start date and wondering when I get my ATT how soon I can schedule. Thanks!

    COVID-19: Pearson VUE test cancellation

Yeah that's what I heard, someone I know wasn't able to reschedule until May 9th.
  11. I know it's a smaller hospital and most people look to go to the big three (Vandy, TriStar, and St. Thomas), but anyone else going to Sumner Regional this Summer for the new grad residency?

    TriStar Nurse Residency Summer 2020

I know some hospitals end up making a FB group for cohorts, but I made a FB group for all hospitals for people starting in new grad programs, especially for those moving to the area. Feel free to join if you're going to be a new grad! https://www.facebook.com/groups/214924516428923/?source=unknown

Is anyone really familiar with the Nashville area that could PM so I could ask some questions about locations to live? Would greatly appreciate it!

Refusing Care of a COVID-19 Patient Due to Inappropriate PPE

I guess people were trying to tell me that using lesser PPE (masks) simply because the appropriate PPE (N95) isn't available doesn't justify putting your health and safety as risk, especially if the hospital does have N95's available but is not giving them out. Again - not my opinion, that's why I was seeking other opinions.

Refusing Care of a COVID-19 Patient Due to Inappropriate PPE

I agree. I have a background in military and law enforcement though, so putting myself at risk to help others has always been in my character. But other's don't necessarily agree, so I was curious others opinions and legality of it all.
