Honestly, I felt really at ease when I realized that the NCLEX Exam questions are not as weird or as hard as I thought they were. At first I was anxious thinking that I might get all those out of this world questions but I didn't. I realized that P...

  5. Avant Healthcare

I tried it multiple times already and it wouldn't let me re-register. If it's accurate, then that would mean that I passed, but of course I would still wait for the official result.
  6. Avant Healthcare

Hmmm took the NCLEX RN yesterday (December 3). My test stopped at 75 and I got a lot of SATA (as early as item #6). There were multiple times when I was getting 5-7 straight SATA questions until my test ended. I am more anxious now than ever to see ...
  7. Hello there, just took my NCLEX yesterday (December 3) and tried the PVT 2 hours after my exam and got the good pop up. I tried again in 4 hours, 8 hours and 20 hours and still showed me the same thing. I've never tried again after 24 hours though....

Hello there, I took my NCLEX yesterday (December 3). Right after going home, I tried the trick and I was so relieved that it didn't allow me to register for another exam. I tried again after 8, 24 and 36 hours and it still did the same thing. I noti...

Hello there Kisheen. I think you and my friend follow the same schedule. You're right, it's challenging but I'm more excited to take the NCLEX now. It is indeed an intense review and hopefully, it yields to a good result for me. Goodluck on your ...

Hello fellow nurses, I'm a Filipino RN working in the Philippines. I have signed up with Avant and has been in close contact with them since February this year. Is there anyone here who's taking the NCLEX on December 3, 2016? Are you guys ready? Ha...
  11. Avant Healthcare

Hello there, I'm a Filipino Nurse too, currently practicing in the Philippines. If my memory serves me right, I think the online presentation is basically an introductory/ orientation video of what Avant is.
  12. 2010 board passer, did not practice nursing ever

I had a fair share of equally traumatic and frustrating experiences too as a student but don't let all those things make you doubt yourself as a nurse. Things we learned as student nurses are entirely different when you are already working as a real ...
  13. 10 Years in a Call Center but wants to be a Nurse already

Taking the NLE is the first step unless you wanted to be a caregiver or a nursing aide/ unlincensed assistive personnel/ orderly abroad.
  14. 2010 board passer, did not practice nursing ever

It's never too late to consider a change of career specially if you are considering a move back to nursing. I made that move 4 years ago after years of contemplating it. It was not an easy choice, my whole world turned upside down and going back me...
  15. I don't think so greenjungle. The need didn't really decrease, it's just that the whole process takes a lot of time for a Filipino Nurse to qualify and work as a nurse in the US because of the tedious licensure and immigration requirements and the E...
  16. Nursing as 2nd course

Unless you have sponsors who could either be employers or family members in the US who'll assist you in moving to the US, taking Nursing won't be practical. First, there is retrogression for employment based visa for filipino nurse applicants. As o...
  17. Doctor's order

I would have confirmed it with the resident who wrote the latest order. If he/ she is unavailable, I would ask the other residents and have them write another order to make sure that everything is properly documented. I would also write a detailed ...
  18. Second Courser: Should I pursue?

That's the irony. Hospital nurses are overworked but definitely understaffed. Although there is a surplus of Filipino RN, there are only limited job opening for staff nurses in private and public hospitals. It took me 5 long years before I could p...

  22. Would I love or regret?

Hi Trish. Follow your heart and take nursing if you really want it but take it at your own risk. Prepare your self for frustrations and set backs because finding a relevant job after becoming a registered nurse is tough. School background isn't im...
  23. Most schools in the Philippines require students enrolling for master's degree to have at least one year of work experience (volunteer, nursing or non-nursing) as a requirement. With regards to applying for a US Visa, given your qualifications (as...
  24. Filipino Nurses, how are you?

Hi. I graduated in 2008 and became a registered nurse that same year. It took me 4+ years to get my very first nursing job as a trainee in a huge Psych hospital. Before my training ends, another hospital hired me. I now have 3+ years of nursing exp...
  25. Second Courser: Should I pursue?

The school I graduated from offered nursing to 2nd coursers. It took most of them 2 years to finish everything since we have summer classes (more like a trimeste), plus almost everyone of them takes more units than a regular student.
