    Pro Life Beliefs and Nursing

THIS Don't put yourself in the situation where that would be problematic.

I failed a nursing course, should I go back?

The only thing I can say is that now you know where you need to focus the second time around. You can start reviewing these items in your books and lecture notes now before you start the class again.

    Nclex

There is no way you can compare where it stopped for and stopped for others to determine whether you might have passed or not. If it stops at 85, you either totally bombed it or you excelled. Best thing to do is to wait for the results. How long do...

    Scope of practice

The only caution I would give is to make sure that if you have not done something, to become trained on the procedure first. Pretty much the only thing we aren't suppose to do is Admission Assessment. Anything else is what the facility decides you ...

I failed a nursing course, should I go back?

Go back. It is hard to fail a class, I have. Write down the disease and then put down signs and symptoms, both obvious and not so obvious. What would you assess? Yes, give us an example and let us know what you think and the nurses will help yo...

I've lost my passion for nursing..confused on what to ?

You are new to the job and right now you are learning it as well as being new to nursing. When I work LTC, I will make out a schedule of what I need to do when. Not detained but general. I would get there at 2 p.m. 2-4 Report, rounds and vitals ...

    Scope of practice

We have a pretty wide scope of practice in Texas. More things here than what I could do in Iowa. If you look at the Scope of Practice of LVN's on the board's website, you will see that it is pretty wide open.

    Nurses' Week - Upended.

It started out as Nurses Day and was on Florence Nightengales' birthday. Then it became nurses week. This year, National Teachers Day fell on a day during this week. So many non teachers are applauding teachers this week. Only other nurses are sa...

    Loss of all personal freedom.

Wait a minute, a veteran is complaining about a loss of personal freedoms in the nursing field? Wasn't there a lot of that in the military>

    Calculation Drugs

Sorry about the assumption earlier. Anyway, how are you working the problems and what are your answers. We can then tell you where you off.

    Calculation Drugs

Ah, you posted at 12:52 the question and then at 12:53 you posted that it was a waste of time as no one had answered. Not sure you know had forums work, but you need to give people more than one minute to answer. Sometimes it may take several hour...

Did they ask for your GPA, yes or no?

Never been asked. Different types of jobs. They want your licensure.

    Lpn in long term care

Management varies in facilities. When questioned about something that happened when you were not there, just tell them that you did not work that day. They can check the schedule they need to.

Resume - Applying out of state but not relocating??

I think places that are near state borders recognize that people are going to cross state lines for work. Where I lived before, nurses were living in one state and working in the next state.

Failed last semester and it hurts

I was in an ADN course. I had to leave the course due to not passing the last class twice. Thought much later, I found out that I was being asked to do something the second time that should never have been assigned a student. I looked around and w...

    Glasses for working

Get whatever glasses you really like. Use the strap if you are having problems with them falling off the face. I do want to add, that many of the times glasses fall of is because they aren't adjust correctly. I have been wearing glasses for 45+ an...

    Night shift lighting

I know I would suggest getting off of that schedule. I also had one kid who didn't sleep well at night where cartoons were on all night. Grrrrr.

    Did you leave bedside nursing?

I have left bedside nursing for PDN Pediatric nursing. I do not feel any less of a nurse doing this than I did being bedside. It is very rewarding to be part of their total care team. You get to know the child as well as the family. You get to kn...
  21. Since the parents were watching this with the child in the room, I am going to guess they watch these kinds of things at home too. Probably the family culture. While we may disagree with it, are we the ones to police other families culture? What ...

    Late pass because of job!!

Nurses don't do their 3 med checks?

OP, I don't know about the PYXIS works at your clinical sites. At the ones I had, once you selected the med, the drawer popped open as well as the one spot that particular med is in. It is easy to see that is is the correct med when one is removing...

    CBD oil

In most states, CBD oil is not legal, therefore, physicians can not prescribe it. That is why they will tell you they can't prescribe it, but won't stop someone from using it. Therefore, we as nurses are not allowed to administer CBD oil and the par...
