  1. So I'm looking into WGU for my RN-BSN, but the application does not work, no matter if I use my desktop, MacBook, phone, etc. Is this a common problem? I can only get as far as the "Education Experience" page, then it just keeps loading back to it when I hit the next button. It makes no difference if I hit yes or no for the automatic importing of my transcripts. Im currently enrolled in a different RN-BSN program but I'm just not liking it and figured I would check out WGU. I do plan on calling Monday morning to see if they can fix it and get my application through. Did anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance!
  2. No program is without flaws, but I feel like this program is pretty good in comparison with many others I’ve heard about. A new program director (who is also one of our instructors) took over this cohort, and they have been making some changes that I can’t really speak to as I don’t know how things were during the previous cohort. There are a few didactic instructors and they can seem a bit strict in some aspects, but they really do want what’s best for all of us. If you need something and reach out to them they are very caring. Sim labs can be nerve-wracking, and there are multiple days each semester, but you’ll get through it. Scheduling clinicals is the most stressful part of the program in my opinion since you have to compete against your fellow classmates for the days you want. As soon as they they release the tentative dates, make a plan for which days you want to schedule and be ready at 0600 on the day they open the Canvas calendar for reservations because they fill up very fast. You will have to make more than one trip in the first semester as there is mandatory orientation and skills check-offs during the first week of January. Skills check-off is nothing like how it was in the LVN/LPN program and they are mainly just checking to make sure you are safe. I was so nervous about it but once I saw that it wasn’t like my LVN program I was much more at ease. Make sure to be punctual to sims and clinicals. You will use ATI throughout the program for many anssignments and will have several proctored exams each semester. The majority are ATI exams with Proctorio, but the finals are with RPNow. There are weekly discussion posts, short quizzes, and sometimes an assignment. It really depends on the week. Some weeks there are no discussion posts so make sure to check. Traveling so far away by myself has definitely been out of my comfort zone, but I’m grateful to be working toward my goals. Try to hookup with some classmates during orientation so you can plan your trips around the same time. It really helps to have a friend or two during the program. You can also save money by going in on AirBnB stays together. See if you can make a facebook page as well to keep each other informed and help answer each other’s questions. You guys will do great!
  3. The other score is the rubric score. That’s where you figure out your total points for Kaplan scores and prerequisites.
  4. I found Smart Edition Academy’s online practice tests to be pretty helpful. I also heard the ACT study guide is great for the reading section. Good luck with your test!
  5. Someone at your Agency would just have to sign a form stating that you’ve completed the hours through them.
  6. I would definitely retake it since most programs require at *least* a C in all prerequisites to even apply. Aim for an A, though.
  7. It really depends on the cohort but it is a competitive program. It never hurts to try, though. The next application period opens March 1st and goes through July 30th. Good luck!
  8. I’m in northern CA and am currently making $40.65/hr. I have 3.5 years of experience. The pay for LVNs here is anywhere from $26-$45/hr depending on experience and if it’s a contract position or not. The average pay seems to be in the low-mid $30s. Hopefully someone from the east coast will be able to give you some helpful info.
  9. I just got accepted to the RN bridge program at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. All the classes are online and you travel to Kansas for clinicals each semester. They let you do them in blocks since most people don’t live in the area. During the last semester you have the option to do your preceptorship in the area that you live in as long as you can find a facility to contract with. The program is 1 year long and each cohort starts in January.
  10. Check your emails! I got my acceptance today. SO excited! ☺️
  11. I hope you find something much better very soon!
  12. Quite the opposite for me. Many people were nasty to me because I was “weird” and quiet (I’m on the spectrum). I learned to tune out most of their words after a while because I was too consumed by the overwhelming feelings of discomfort I was experiencing pretty much all the time. One girl who was particularly nasty to me is now deep into drug addiction and has been for a while. Oddly enough, her sister is a nurse now.
  13. I’m sorry you’re going through that. It sounds like they are taking advantage of you because you’re new, while also keeping you from valuable/necessary orientation time that you are entitled to. Is this a place that you want to stay at or are you considering looking for a position elsewhere?
  14. Just take it one day at a time. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed at first but then it gets much better.
  15. I took Chemistry at my local community college. I was really intimidated at first, but as I learned the formulas it became easier. I took micro through Pratt Community College.
  16. Chemistry has a ton of math, but isn’t too difficult as long as you know the formulas for the equations. It’s very repetitive with all the calculations, though. Micro wasn’t very hard.
  17. That’s great that you were accepted to Fairmont- They’re not accepting applicants from California otherwise I would apply. Still hoping we all get into Hutchinson ☺️
  18. I’m hopeful that all of us will still get in. It’s a bit discouraging to know so many people applied, but you never know. What was your rubric score?
  19. I love dimensional analysis. It came in quite handy when I took Chemistry because I already understood how to use it. It’s one of the simplest forms of math, imo. This is a great resource!
  20. I know how you feel. I wish there were more options out there. It sucks that we don’t have anything local really.
  21. I emailed the program secretary today and she informed me that they received 265 applications this year. I’m trying my best to stay hopeful, but that’s such a large number ?
