Not sure what the DON was thinking. I could understand it if she simply asked if you advised the doc....but I couldn't see giving the insulin (no matter what kind it was) with a BS of

Most of the mandatory meetings I have ever heard of or gone to before never lasted more than an hr. or so. What they asked of you was ridiculous and unfair
I feel your pain, but it is true that you have to take the upper hand immediately....and you can only do this effectively if you have the backing of your supervisors/managers/DON! The...

lpns do not get what they deserve imo. i think that the salary should be closer to a rn salary, having been a lpn and now a rn. i make about $6-8/hr. more than lpns that work under me. however, we...

I never said you said, etc.! LOL. But I have been both LPN and RN and I know that my education was different as a LPN. Even with years of experience as a LPN, I do know more after my RN program. The...

LPNS do get shafted, I agree. But the education is not the same. If it were, we wouldn't have these discussions. We would all be RNs. Signed, Ex-LPN Liza, RN.

Thanks for your thoughts. Much of what you said, we do regularly too. We had a combo of last minute things that happened or were missed in the week or two before the survey began....last minute...

I agree 100%! It just can't all be done with the staffing we have! Not even supernurses can get it all done without putting in extra hrs. and not even then! Even staffing that is not the worst just...

Well, it wasn't anywhere *near* perfect even with my 55 hrs. in! Too much to do like someone else said. I can't be 25 places at once and can't do 25 things at once. It was far from a perfect or good...

You are right IMO too! Funny, my husband was just saying last night that middle management gets "doodoo" from the people who work under them and the people that work over

Ahh. Hugs to you. Sorry to here that it has come to this for you. LTC does need good people, but it can drive you crazy...I understand that. We have some that don't care too. Or some that pretend to...

Yes,...true! And I did learn that you have to get a move on quickly with all the detailed assessments, finding out more and more interventions...it is a priority on my list

I have only been there a short time, but, yes, serious enough that they are coming back to check us soon. Like I said, I think some of the wounds that came from hospitals, etc., made us look worse....

hahaha. We had a combined "celebration" with Nursing Home week. It was a buffet lunch and a pen. And the higher ups kept making sure everyone had gotten their pen. So kind.

nope, i agree with those that say cnas are not nurses and should not say they are. however, in ltc, sometimes the elderly get very confused with the differences and do refer to cnas as nurses. not...

I don't know how you do it. Kudos to you! I want to jump ship! LOL. I probably will. For those of you who have done it and done it well for years, I have great respect. I don't have an office....let...

never saw it in ltc for nursing...although the cnas have plenty of flowsheets. for ltc nursing, i am not sure what you could put on one...maybe nursing rounds, siderails, callbell, bed position...
I may be one of the few, I don't know...but I never liked ER because I felt in was a totally inaccurate betrayal of the way the ERs and hospitals in general work! It seems like a big soap opera to me....

We have both good and bad work ethics with our CNAs. They show up and have few call ins, but they say, "Yes," they will do things, and then don't sometimes. I have a problem just getting my daily,...
