What is an Oncology Nurse?
Oncology nurses provide care and treatment for patients suffering from various cancer and hematology disorders. These treatments can take place in the inpatient setting of an oncology unit or outpatient in cancer center...
Is anyone PCCN certified and recently taken the test? What did you use to study and what do you feel helped? I'm using the Progressive Care Nursing Certification preparation, review, and practice exam book since it's what was supplied from the AACN w...

Hailie, Thank you for your feedback. I originally attempted that because I've always noticed it's easier to do research when the topic is broad. It's just that PICOTs seem so specific in all that they require. I really couldnt think of ANYTHING that ...

Deej394, Hi, I began the program in February. It definitely has it's positives and negatives. Benefits and pay is pretty good. But the hospital has been suffering from a pretty big nursing shortage which has led to a lot of recent changes in schedul...

I wouldnt really suggest relocating here until you have a position lined up unless you really have the finances and resources. Ive seen too many liscensed nursed waiting 6 months-year for a job or having to settle for a position in a nursing home or ...

Can anyone who's started tell me what they do about BLS training? I just realized mine is expired and I start Monday and I'm surprised they haven't already asked for a copy of my card.

I just studied by myself using my hesi review book and doing any free practice questions I could find online. You'll do awesome! I heard Hurst is super good! And I considered asking just in case, but I know most ppl got the chance to pick between sev...

I've been chilling for too long smh lol. It sucks because I knocked my test out so fast and already did all my new hire stuff, but I got hired to MDA in the last batch of interviews so I don't start until February 23rd. Still got a long month to go l...

Yeah we got our ATTs at a little before the end of December. First classmate took boards new years eve and then I had mine January 3rd, the first date available. What are you using to study?

If you haven't been in school since 08 and went to a non US nursing school I suggest you taking a full review course (Kaplan or Hurst or other options) because since 08 lots have things have changed.

^^^ I agree. My program always had us take exams on the computer and always used application questions, so taking the nclex felt like just another nursing school test. And our pass rates are high. I didn't take Kaplan or hurst but I did do a lot of s...

I took mine today. I was making an average of 60-65 on my Kaplan questions. Just keep doing them and reading the rationales and I'm sure you'll do fine!

So glad I came across this post! I test Saturday and have been considering rescheduling it due to fear. But my nursing school preps well and I am an awesome test taker. But seeing so many people talking about failing multiple times really makes you t...

So did you do any review course at all? I'm super nervous because most people take those expensive courses and I just can't afford that. I did well on my exit HESI so it is predicted that I have 97 percent chance of passing. I do practice questions u...

I'm getting calls for other interviews but I don't wanna waste anyone's time if its not necessary. But I don't know anything about the positon except the floor I'm on and that I work nights. Waiting is sooooooo frustrating.
MercedesBaseyScottRN replied to peaches816's topic in Job Hunt
How long ago did you interview and then when did you hear when they you started? I interviewed almost 3 weeks ago, she emailed and said I got the position the same night, and said she'd contact me with the official offer the next week. I called to fo...

Most people have told me that after you finally get your ATT you can schedule your test pretty soon. Like within a week or 2 if thats what you want. Testing centers test twice a day, 6 days a week. So getting an appointment to test isn't hard. Its ju...

I wish i started that early. MD Anderson doesn't start until February. I can't imagine not being in school and not working for the next 2 months. That really depends on your hospital. Baylor in Dallas will let you keep working if you fail, if you fai...
