If something happens to a patient, your facility and those there when it happens will be held responsible. This is huge. It doesn't matter if the behavior is baseline or not. It has to be stopped....
If the student needs to be sent home because he's turbo-contagious, why in the world would it be ok to send him back to class? The logic those other nurses see in this totally escapes

I've worked in 3 different psych facilities. Bras were never restricted in any of them, unless the patient was suicidal or had a history self-mutilation. If attempts were made, that's another story,...

I worked inpatient psych for many years. I was never injured by a patient or anything close to injury. My glasses did get grabbed and mangled by a lady who was known to reach out and grab glasses....
I remember reading, awhile back, that there's some research that tylenol (acetaminophen) has a cumulative negative effect on the liver. Even if one isn't taking the max or greater dose per day, the...
Where I teach, it's required to have a MSN to teach lecture or part- or full-time. It's required to have a MSN or be in-progress to teach clinicals or adjunct. My school is a LPN to ASN and ASN...
I went into nursing so I could have a reasonable income and do something reasonably interesting, to put food on the table and a roof over my family members' heads. I had another degree that led to no...
You're the one who will get the consequences if she does something outside LPN student rules. The school will too, but YOU will. Doesn't seem safe to you, as far as I can
My son went to a school that had students preparing to become LPNs as well as students preparing to become RNs. They all did their med/surg I clinicals together. After that semester things they were...

Maybe the facility wants to share ideas between those who work there? Maybe it's trying to get you all to think about what you do in more depth? You could ask them for their rationale. Is there a...
It also bothers me when students need to interview a nurse and post their interview questions. First, I believe an interview is at least an interaction between people, where one question leads to...

This reminds me of something, kinda related.... I worked on a psych unit that was closed. I got a job in med/surg. Psych nursing is my love. My question is....if you work med/surg, will you lose...

It seems, even if it's ok to write an order to transfer to ICU, that it's impossible because you don't know which doctor. You can't just use any doctor's name. So, you can't write the order. I...

I don't thing it's a bad ratio. The ratio in my first psych nursing job on evening shift was one staff member for up to 12 patients. That meant the RN was often the only staff person there--no tech,...
I've heard there's a program that will repay part of student loans if a nurse works in an "underserved" area of the country for a couple of years. I think the application period is starting soon....
If you skip the BSN and go directly to the MSN in Education, you'll probably have a longer MSN than those who already have a BSN. There are courses you'd have to take to qualify for the MSN in...
I started out with a bachelors in elementary education. I went back to school and got my BSN and MSN. My education degree seemed to make it easier for me to get a job once I had a MSN, but didn't do...
