  1. For you hospitalist NP's, what's your day like? Also, are you certified as a FNP or ACNP? Thanks! CrazyPremed EDIT: I found some other threads on the subject... Is anyone here a Hospitalist NP?...
  2. A day in the life of a hospitalist NP?

Would anyone like to tell us about his/her day?
  3. I feel your pain! I started a similar job a little while ago. What you feel is completely normal! I know you've heard this before, but you will get the hang of things. It will always be crazy, but...
  4. Long enough orientation

I started working on a tele floor as a new grad LPN and I had the equivalent of 2 months full time orientation (spread out over three months because I'm still in school). It seemed like enough for me....
  5. Giving meds.

My technique is to first look at the MAR before I even go to the Pyxis. I look at BP for HTN meds, labs (K+, Mg, etc.), and write the values on the MAR. This way I'll catch meds that aren't...
  6. This is probably a stupid question, but... It seems difficult for me to make up my mind. Do I want to work in an FP setting or be an NP hospitalist. Why doesn't one just study both in school (ie get...
  7. Hello folks, I'm a new LPN working on a tele floor while I finish the RN portion of my program. I love my orientation, had a great deal of medical experience before I started, and am doing well in...
  8. Why not get FNP & ACNP at same time???

I know that this is an old post, but I wanted to see if anyone had anything to add. I'm working on a tele floor, and the experience is opening my eyes. I'm still feeling like an FNP masters program...
  9. mcc block 3

I'm at another school, and I just passed block III. PM if you want to talk.
  10. LPN Duties in AZ

I work as an LPN in a hospital. We pretty much do everything the nurses do except for the IV pushes. When we get a new admit, we do the initial assessment, then the RN that we are working with will...
  11. Hello folks, I'm a new LPN working on a tele floor while I finish the RN portion of my program. I love my orientation, had a great deal of medical experience before I started, and am doing well in...
  12. Seriously true!!!
  13. Easier said than done!
  14. Quick little rant about the tele room here.

What is the training for that monitor tech position? Are you all paramedics or LPN's. That sounds like great experience for a tech (it also sounds like its out of the scope of practice of a tech)!...
  15. Quick little rant about the tele room here.

I've worked as a Tele Tech, and I will soon be starting as an LPN on a tele floor (can you believe it!). I appreciate this thread - and those who have contributed - so I can see both sides of the...
  16. New grad advice (any little bit helps)...

I know this question has been asked to death, but... I'm a new grad LPN who has been lucky enough to been hired on a tele floor. Any advice for this newbie? Rhythms to practice? Meds? Any horror...
  17. New grad advice (any little bit helps)...

Thank you so much!! I'm actually going to print out your post and answer all of the questions!!!
  18. Revisions to the MCCDNP.....

It seems that they are only revising the co-reqs, not the prereqs. My bet is that they are bringing Pathophysiology back. Also, it seems they raised the NET reading from 50% to 60%.
  19. Hey everyone, how long did it take to get your fingerprints approved when applying for your license? 2 weeks? 1.5 months? Thanks in advance!
  20. How long for fingerprints with license?...

"Pending fingerprint results." I'm so sick of that phrase. Waiting for these results is harder than taking the NCLEX-PN!
  21. How long for fingerprints with license?...

Now that I counted it out, only 3.5 weeks. Sheesh! I though that it had been longer. Oh well.
  22. How long for fingerprints with license?...

Anyone else? It seems like they take forever!!
  23. ASU's RN-BSN program ?'s...

Hello folks, Can anyone give information about ASU's RN-BSN program. I've checked out the website, but was wondering if I could learn some more. Do you have to have your license in hand to apply (with...
  24. I don't want to work in a hospital ever...

Honestly, the nurses do much more than you as a surgical tech. Many people in healthcare underestimate what nurses do - or the training that it takes to get the license. You'll find this out as you go...
  25. A friend and I had an interesting conversation. I read a statistic that said 1:12 men in America are colorblind (red-green, I think). Are there any nurses out there who are?
