    Vanderbilt MSN 2017

Well, I had an amazing time today at the open house. I loved hearing everyone speak and it was so great to visualize what it would be like to be a vusn student next year! That is, until I heard the specialty director basically say that if you don't submit a fully completed app by the Nov 1 priority date, your chances are pretty slim. Seats are filled and wait list started even before they look at apps that may have been submitted a week or two after Nov 1st? Sigh....it really discouraged me. I don't take my gre exam until October 28th, everything else will be complete except for that. I'm trying to stay hopfully but that really deflated me. Maybe it's just bc the specialty I'm applying to is so competitive? Anywho, anyone else who attended...what was your take away from today?

Hey everyone! Who all is going to the open house? I'm going to try my best to make it from NC. I've never been on campus, so I'm excited to check it out. I was wondering about how long it took for you all to get your scores back after taking the GRE? Also, what did you do to prepare for it? I was originally scheduled to take it a month ago, but I had to reschedule, and now I'm not scheduled to take it until the end of October....cutting it close, right? Hopefully it doesn't take too terribly long to get scores back. I've never been so nervous about applying like I am with applying to V.

    Duke ABSN Fall 2017

Frankie, they said at the open house last night that they are in the middle of revamping the system, nd it will launch in a couple of weeks. She said they will email everyone who's email that have, and let them know once the new system is in place. So hopefully in a week or two.

Hi Sami! I'm applying to pmhnp too as a non-nurse. I would go for it, it is worth a shot, especially if your gre is above average and you have experience in the field.

    Duke ABSN Fall 2017

Hmmm....I'm not sure. I haven't applied yet, but it says online the app will open 3 months prior to the priority deadline, which is December 1st, so it should be open now. I was waiting until after the open house to apply, so I haven't attempted it yet. I will update you with how the open house goes! Wish you could be there!

When I emailed them, they said the open house will be oct. 15th this year. Perfect time for fall! I haven't taken my GRE yet. I had it scheduled for this Friday, but I have been so busy I have not had any time to study, so I'm rescheduling it for the end of September. I hope it doesn't take too long to get my scores back. I really want to do well on it because my GPA right now is a 3.54-- it was a 3.9, but I did poorly in Chem 102 and I'm having to retake it this semester for a grade replacement. I'm nervous about them seeing that grade. I plan on sending my updating transcripts in December, but I'm afraid it may be too late for them to see it. IDK, I could just be freaking out for no reason, haha.
  13. Hello, This is my first post on Allnurses! My husband and I are both going to be relocating to the Nashville area this summer. We both will have our AA in general studies this May and are both wanting to go to nursing school now. My husband is more focused on bed-side care in particular with peds and geriatrics, and I really want to become a NP, preferably a PMHNP as I am very interested in diagnosing and mental health. My question is which program near Nashville is most affordable? Would it be best to start with the lpn program at TTC and then bridge? Or should I just go for my BSN? I do have an AA but I am missing pre-reqs such as A&P 1 &2 and micro, as well as my husband. We would be considered "out of state" for one year for tuition purposes. Also, will we be able to find jobs after we graduate wither as an lpn or rn in or near the area? If you recommend TTC for lpn, which branches are best? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! We need to start applying soon!

    TTC Nashville LPN September Class

Hey! I want to apply to TTC Nashville....do they have a September class or is it only in may now? Their website is only stating May 2014 at this moment, wasn't sure if there were two sets of classes, one in may and one in September. Can't get anyone on the phone out there! Also, can you apply for a federal loan if you don't get grant money to help pay for it? Just curious how all that works. Thanks!
  15. Sorry, meant to reply to your post! What is this excelsior college you speak of? Do you have to be an lpn or rn first? I am relocating to TN and trying to figure out where I should apply! I already have my AA in general studies (still lacking a&p1 &2, chem, etc.) and trying to decide where to go that's not too expensive, but where I will not have to wait forever to get in. I am 28 and wanting to start a family asap! Im also not sure whether to do lpn, and, or bsn! Oh...the possibilities....haha
