1. I know this is an old thread, but for anybody wondering, I heard it takes 4 weeks, but for me it was about 2 weeks after I submitted my application to the BON. It's faster if you pay the $200 to Pearson in advance (which is what I did).
2. Thank you!! And good luck with your exam! You got this!
3. YES! I did it! I PASSED!! It can be done! :) And the PVT worked in my case
4. I just realized that this thread is OLD! Lol! Anyway, disregard my last comment. Hope everything went well with the exam you took 4 yrs ago Hoping it's still possible to pass NCLEX w/out studying in 2016
5. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your story! Hope it helps those who have become discouraged :)
6. Hi! I graduated from my program on May 12, got my ATT on May 27, and took the NCLEX the very next day. I haven't gotten my official results yet but I tried the PVT after more than 48 hrs and did get the good pop up. I didn't really do anything to prepare other than the ATI exams required for my program, and I did a few (maybe around 100) practice questions from the NCLEX Mastery app. I was planning on studying more but when I saw that I could schedule my exam for the very next day I just wanted to get it over with lol. I figured since I just graduated everything should still be fresh in my mind. My exam shut off after 75 questions. I will let you know whether I passed (: Good luck!
7. Hi roz! Grats on getting in! Me and Mary are planning to meet around 8:30. Since she already gave you her number I guess she'll fill you in on the details (: Looking forward to meeting you!
8. Mary, I have the syllabus from last semester for NURS 210 and this is the schedule they have: Example of weekly schedule

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY

Class-Lecture 0800 - 1100 (Clinical preparation during clinical weeks) Laboratory 0800 – 1330 Includes lunch Lab/Clinical* 0630 - 1400 Includes lunch Laboratory 0800 – 1330 Includes lunch Lab/Clinical* 0630 - 1400 Including lunch Lab (?) 0900 - 1200 NURS 212: 0900 – 1200 NURS 211: 1300 - 1500

**Students should follow the calendar for the course. The course will be doing a variety of activities in order to be prepared for the clinical experience. I'm not sure about Thurs/Fri cause in the syllabus it said lab on Fridays but I looked at the class availability and we're supposed to have patho and NURS 211 on Fridays, so maybe they changed lab to Thurs (?) See you at orientation! EDIT: Just found this

Monday 0800-1100 Tuesday 0800 - 1330 5 hours + lunch Wednesday 0800 - 1330 5.0 hours + lunch Thursday 0800 - 1330 5.0 hours + lunch Friday 0900 - 1500

9. Nevermind.. I found a place. If anyone is also looking, the Medical Corner has it.
10. Have any of you gotten your flu shot? I went to 3 different Longs and 1 Walgreens and they all say they don't have it anymore b/c it's off season. They'll only have the new vaccine in August. Does anybody know of some place that still has it?
11. Elly, I agree that you should go to the KCC orientation... You'll need to do all the health requirements anyway for UH! It'll keep your options open in case something does pop up. Plus I'd love to meet both of you (:
12. Nope, no kids... just a bunny :) But I'm pretty sure he can handle himself haha. I'm recently divorced and did not have any children with my ex-husband (guess that's partially a good thing).. but looks like I won't be having any.. at least for a while now lol until I get through school. Do you have relatives here that could help watch your baby? I keep hearing that nursing school really takes over your life
13. Kiana, I didn't take PHRM 203 during the summer, but I heard Dr. Farmer's online class from Maui college is supposed to be pretty easy (: ..Not sure if he offers it during the summer, but you might want to check! (: BTW localboi, which school did you go to and do you have any advice for us new nursing students? :)
14. Omg YAY!!!!!! That's awesome news!! Now you can breathe a huge sigh of relief! Do you already have all your health requirements done, since you had to do them last year? I just need the CPR training and flu shot then I'll be done (:
15. You're very welcome! :) Just wanted to let you know what the advisor told me. When you have time you should see a nursing advisor too and show him/her your scores, etc. so they can tell you what you should work on to have a strong application. You could even ask how their point system works. But the advisor I saw did tell me that they award the most points for the TEAS. Thanks! Yeah, I'm very excited but very scared at the same time! LOL:nailbiting: Mostly scared about dealing with actual patients but how else are we gonna learn, right?! I know it's gonna be a lot of hard work for the next 2-3 years. Good luck on the studying! I really admire your perseverance and I know you will be a nurse one day! (:
16. Congrats on completing the nurse aide training! :) I did the CNA training back in October... And wow what an experience that was! Lol! (Some of my residents during clinical were pretty crazy). Anyway, when I talked to a nursing advisor to help prepare my application, I asked if I needed to get the certification, and she said no, just the certificate of completing the NA course was enough. So I never took the certification exam. She said they only give 1 extra point on your application for healthcare experience (that includes completing the NA training with no certification or actual work experience), but hey every little point helps! I'd definitely focus the most on getting the TEAS score up cuz she told me that's what they award the most points for. At least you still have some time before the next round of applications are due (:
17. See you in June Mary! :) Hope a spot opens up for you!
18. Believe me, I know how you feel Mary...lol! I just turned 31. Turning 30 was not fun haha Well.. as they say: better late than never! Wish you the best at Manoa Elly! I'm so happy for you that you made it in this semester! YAY no more waiting!
19. Hi Elly! I also already have a bachelor's degree! I studied fine art (painting) at Manoa. I thought about doing the Masters entry program but it seemed like they want people with some kind of experience in healthcare, and I have none. They asked for letters of recommendation from people stating why you would make a good nurse and I had no idea who to ask for that lol. Plus it seems VERY fast-paced. Mary, that is a bummer you had to withdraw :/ ..but the most important thing is that you both are doing well and healthy now :) Congrats!!
20. Hi Mary, my name is Lisa :) Aww I was hoping I could save some $$$ by buying scrubs online.. I probably should stop buying things until after the orientation lol. So how long were you in the program before you had to drop?
21. Haha that's ok Ellers.. 2 explainations are always better than one :) Swartie, I'll definitely be there! Oh geez, the good old introduce yourself to the class.. guess I'll have to suck it up and do it lol. Are we not able to order our own scrub pants (not from KCC) as long as they're royal blue? There's a Cherokee brand one on eBay that I just bid on :/ lol, guess I'm getting a little too ahead of myself. Hope to see you there!
22. Well that's lame /: .. It's not like you're asking about other students By the way, what do they talk about/do for 6 hours at the orientation?? Just curious:rolleyes:
23. @Kayla: Oh no! ;( At least it's still an improvement from your first score.. so you're going in the right direction! If I were you I would look at the score report and study my butt off on the areas where I scored the lowest. The "topics to review' page that you get with your score report would be a helpful guide in the areas you should focus your studying on. If you're not taking any summer classes it will be the perfect time to study (:
24. Hi swartie! If you look at the KCC class availability, it says there are only 18 seats for NURS 210 and 211, so I'm guessing that's all they accepted for Fall semester. I haven't confirmed this with counselor or anyone in the nursing department, though. How many were accepted shouldn't matter in your case -- what matters is how many drop the program! I'm guessing you have a good chance on getting in if people drop out since you were accepted before, that must mean you have pretty good stats (: Could you find out from a counselor what number you are on the waiting list?
25. It's a little scary to be starting already lol.. everything happened so fast now it's like being thrown into the program. I'm sure the next 6 months will fly by for you. And you're still so young! I wish I knew what I wanted to do at 19-20 years old (: About the TEAS: I was out of school for over 5 years, and I didn't remember anything! I didn't even remember basic things in math like adding fractions, so I had to teach myself everything all over again. So if I can do it, so can you! I would definitely take all the practice tests from the TEAS book and the online practice tests too. The more practice tests you can take, the better! I also made sure that I knew everything from this link: https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-passed-804222.html That person got the same score as me and pretty much everything he/she explained was on the test. Watch YouTube videos for anything you don't really understand. This was a big help for me when it came to the science section. There are also some videos from people who took the TEAS and explain what kind of questions were on the exam, so those were pretty helpful too :)
