I am sorry you were fired...but, you did deserve it. You were late not once, but multiple times during orientation. You say you are punctual but you did not show that at all.
Something similar happened on Nurse Jackie on the last (?) season. And, as far as I am aware, insulin drips are a double RN check where you can't bypass the sign off in the flow sheets like you can with pressors. Granted, I guess this all depends on...

Generally the people placing the lines wear the masks or the people that are almost breathing on the patient's neck have to wear the mask. Otherwise, no.

I had a charge who would discharge patients without telling the nurse and the patient would still be in the room. It's to keep the discharge times If management did this, I would notify not only the union, but CMS as well.
EMTs and Paramedics told me this: Most of the time, you will be a glorified taxi driver for transport. HOWEVER, those crazy moments you see tend to make up for the crap transport. I have the utmost respect for our first responders.

One of my facilities has a .phrase in Epic for narcotic administration that says patient must agree to have a ride home, etc. I've adopted this at my other facility to protect me as many patients say they have rides, but in fact, do not.

Just get the CEN. You will learn a ton. Forget the naysayers who tell you that it's required to get the experience. If you got the time and money to study, do it.
You guys are saying these are futile resuscitative attempts. To your eyes, yes, they are. To the families watching that every possible thing is being done for their loved one IS NOT FUTILE.
It happens from time to time that you board inpatients patients in the ED for >3 days. However, I haven't been in a hospital that sounds like that bad.
I'm assuming by now you've taken your TNCC? Nurses don't do a whole lot in trauma aside from the line and labs and blood transfusions. As the primary nurse, your main goal is to chart the primary and secondary survey and place orders that the doc say...

Some people do take notes in the ER like they would on a medsurg floor. I don't get it at all. The important stuff should be able to be memorized and even if that's not the case, just glance at the chart while giving report. Most ER nurses will under...
You hate medicine? As in primary care? Or medical-surgical? Most of your ER patients will be medsurg based, few will be ICU, even fewer will be trauma unless you're in a major trauma center. The way you make it sound it's as if you shouldn't be in t...
The telemetry one can be a little difficult as (if it's the same one I had to initially take) it's been xeroxed over numerous times making it difficult to read. But, it's your typical rhythms and interventions. I think you have one junctional rhythm ...
Ah...yeah. Erm. Levophed generally is a 1:1 because you titrate every 5 minutes. I'm going to rescind my previous statement about wanting to be in that ER, lol.
1) I've personally only seen military terms used based off of ACUITY. Alpha = ICU, Bravo = Stepdown, Charlie, etc are below. Just think of Alpha as the highest acuity possible. 2) Code 2 is without sirens, code 3 is with sirens. If you hear a "Code ...
No difference between an older versus a younger nurse. You will encounter some that are fast and some that are slow. Be optimistic, eager to learn, and ready to get hands dirty.
I FIRMLY believe that you should take note of these diagnoses and look them up later. Get the Emergency Nursing Bible. Get the Rapid EKG Interpretation book. Get Sheey's Manual of Emergency Care book. Medicine is all about education. Many nurses (ev...
