Congratulations everybody :) are you guys going to be doing days or nights?
  4. stinky patient pet peeve

Even it wasn't my assigned skill for the day, I'd still do it. If you see a problem, why not take the initiative and try to fix it? Or call the CNA to assist you if you don't have that much time or it's a 2 person assist patient. That's one of the in...
  5. Daytona State College

It was my overall :) I had to take a lot of remedial math classes though.
  6. Daytona State College

I got in with a 3.35 as many others have this semester. Just try your best. I seriously had been stressing about applying for the year + I was doing my pre-reqs and in reality it's painless... I think as long as you strive to keep your GPA above a 3....
  7. Daytona State College

You're welcome! Have you applied yet? :)
  8. Daytona State College

@livinmydream I had all my pre-reqs complete and they judge your overall G.P.A but they also look at your exact grades in the pre-reqs. I heard that you just have to pass the TEAS, that they only really count on it when there are 2 students with the ...

  14. Daytona State College

I have a 3.35 GPA! (super low, I know, I'm just terrible in math and had a mess up in A&P 1). But I talked to the Nursing office and they said the lowest GPA they accepted last semester was around a 3.0 so lets hope I get in) My TEAS AITS is 79%,...
  15. TEAS TEST RETAKE

Math is my tough subject. I "failed" it twice (according to what my schools requirements were, I got a 50% my first time and a 60% the second time). On my third attempt I passed the math with an 80%, which is still low but I am AWFUL in math. I stu...

Hello my fellow CNA's, I just graduated my CNA program in August and amazingly enough, I was recently hired for a position on the oncology floor at my local hospital. My program was 3 months long and 2 months of the 3 was spent getting clinical expe...

  20. New Male CNA student worries

Hi, I'm not a male but I've met many male CNA's and male Nurses! (I am also a minority CNA which I'll get into later) Just do your best and listen to your patients especially in terms of modesty concerns. For example, don't get offended or take it pe...
  21. CNA or HHA

I think the major difference is you won't be working in a facility, you will be working in a home and driving to each house to care for your patientS. One of my former classmates is an HHA now and she cooks, buys groceries/house supplies based on pat...
  22. CNA I Student Clinicals-question

For me, we had set days and times each week we did our clinicals they never varied. So, I knew exactly what I was doing, where, and when. They were for 6 hours each. Your school should have this info in the syllabus if not definitely call/email th...
  23. Crying at work

As a CNA who just got a job on an oncology floor your post really touched me. I've always wondered myself, is it okay to cry? Are we allowed to feel even though we know we have to be the strong one for the families and patients? I don't really have ...
  24. Last day of work

What is your fondest memory? Rural Montana sounds interesting! What was it like?
  25. New!

I was SO nervous! I had anxiety going through the roof. But then I got there and I realized that I know how to do this and that I CAN and WILL do this. After I had been doing clinicals for a few days the anxiety went away, my nervousness dissipated i...
