  1. Best order for science prereqs

I took AP 1 one semester, than AP2 the next, than Micro and Chem together. I don't think it matters as long as you are sure to have enough time to study. Taking micro and chem together whilst working was beyond tough for me. I recieved a B in both cl...
  2. Nursing vs OT- any thoughts?

I'm still stuck on nursing too and wonder if SLP is too boring for me. I've had people warn me against nursing but my mom constantly tells me she would love it if I would go for nursing. But what helped me decide on SLP (for now at least lol..) was t...
  3. Nursing vs OT- any thoughts?

I'm in a really similar situation. I did ALL of my nursing pre-reqs and got my associates from a community college this past spring. All I had to do was take the TEAS test and start the application process but I decided to transfer to a local univers...
  4. Electronics in Nursing School

I'm finished with my pre-reqs but I used plain old paper and pen. I have my MacBook which I use for school I'm general though. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com
  5. Macbook Air vs Macbook Pro

Get the air! I got the pro in sept 2011 when I was a freshman and it is pretty darn heavy to lug around it weighs around 10 lbs. I chose it over the air bc I thought I would miss the cd drive but I NEVER use it anyway. Majority of programs(like Micro...
  6. 2 finals in one wk

Hi, Just updating(for anyone curious): I ended up with the grade B in both classes as my overall final grades... I'm grateful to not have any C's and my GPA is 3.4 so I can't complain. But I can't help but beat myself up and wish I had taken the clas...
  7. 2 finals in one wk

I have a final on wednesday(micro) and thursday(chemistry). What are some ideas/tips to study for both evenly? :/ The past two nights of studying I've been working on micro with a goal in mind of where to stop and switch to study the other subject bu...
  8. 2 finals in one wk

I take the chem final today and I honestly think I'm going to bomb it. My fault for not being able to time manage/juggle my two sciences and work. The final is cumulative and the study guide was around 15 pages. Thanks for the tips everyone I guess ...
  9. 2 finals in one wk

I took my micro final today, glad that's over with. Tomorrow I have my chemistry final but I feel sooo burned out from micro my brain is fried lol. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com

  11. Everyone Won't Succeed. And That's Okay!

Eh, I have to disagree with this article. The situations Ernie has to deal with are up to him if he lets them hinder him or not. My parents were never involved in my schooling, asked about my grades, or anything like that. I barely met the requiremen...
  12. Also forgot to add, some good resources for highschoolers that are looking into different majors would be the collegeboard site. They have majors seperated into categories and there is a "health and medicine" category.
  13. Yes I completely agree! My parents(or any other adult) were never involved in my academic life and it would've been helpful to have someone help me research and find other options out there. I'm finishing up my nursing pre-requisites now but I've dec...
  14. UCF/SSC Spring 2014

To those who were accepted what were your stats? GPA, TEAS scores? I'm applying for Fall '14 just trying to get an idea of what they're looking for.
  15. How likely do you think I am of getting in? Advice to offer?

I just realized I overlooked the part where you said volunteering was a requirement for your school, just try to meet the minimum requirement of hours in each area they are looking for, or work on each requirement one at a time. Don't set yourself up...
  16. How likely do you think I am of getting in? Advice to offer?

I've looked at a LOT of nursing school's requirements in my state and I don't think ANY of them care for volunteer hours/letter of recommendations, clubs etc. I'm not sure about your area, but in my state getting the best possible grades in your pre-...
  17. Nursing to Med School

Lol, wow at some of the things I read in this thread... My gyno is a DNP at a major hospital in my state... everyone refers to her as doctor so-and-so. Her coat obviously states her credentials (ARNP), also when I go to my family doctor everyone in t...
  18. Are you looking into becoming a nurse in the future or just psych tech? They are different positions. Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com
  19. Statistics trouble

Also if you use a textbook in class review the end of chapter questions/quizzes even the tough ones. Sometimes professors model their exams after those problems.
  20. Statistics trouble

Go to tutoring it could really save your grade, use them as teachers and to review your class lessons/notes/examples. It seems like your professor isn't helping you guys prepare well for the exams... Statistics is not that bad it's just alot of calcu...
  21. Do you actually study A&P book for exam? or you just refer to it?

When I took AP 1&2 I took the same professor for both courses. She gave us powerpoints basically summarizing key facts so I followed those like a bible, also I would refer to the book on tricky topics and follow her study guide like a bible. Prev...
  22. Should i read any books to get a head-start for nursing school?!

I personally wouldn't bother trying to prepare for the curriculum, I don't think there is a way to prepare for that unless you find skimming textbooks to be helpful. I think reviewing NCLEX style questions would be helpful though.
  23. Talk with your highschool guidance counselor, I'm sure you can take the nursing pre-reqs as a part of your general AA though. Doing Dual Enrollment while in highschool is definitely not a waste of time as long as you can handle the workload and maint...
  24. Is anyone else this way?

I think science in general always comes back to tiny holes tbh... Microbiology is pictures of cells clumped together as well. I don't really know what to tell you have you tried googling exercises to overcome this fear? Sent from my iPhone using alln...
  25. Do you read all the text for science classes?

I follow study guides like a bible. In micro my professor uses Powerpoints so I follow those for the exams. In chemistry I read the examples on how to do problems from the book bc my teacher doesn't use Powerpoints and my class notes are never in dep...
