  1. Being a nurse has unlimited opportunities and boundaries. It has never been a boring job. It is a very flexible type of work. We can work from hospitals, offices, homes, or anywhere we would want to. It is one of the careers that you have definite freedom on what specialization or field you would want to be in. Aside from the many different fields to choose, you can also work in different states you want. Keeping your career even you work across states is easy. Here is the link I find helpful. Check rnmobility.com and learn how to use your RN license in another state.
  2. A parent is a parent, and the doctor is the one who treats and orders. We cannot follow mom's orders as she was not the one who prescribed medication :) Her request cannot be acceptable. You must state it clearly that it cannot be as it is not the proper dosing. Actually, medication is just temporary. We must be against long term administration/dependent use of it as it has side effects too. Treatment must be coupled with support from school and parents, that is the environment. Moreover, there are natural ways to remedies to help our children or us, as parents to cope with hyperactivity, inattention. Check this link Living With ADD/ADHD: Diets, Vitamins, Supplements and Therapies
  3. It never hurts to try! If they bring it up or ask you about it in an interview setting, explain what happened honestly and don't get worked up about it. We all make mistakes. But, if you're actively job searching it's best to apply at a number of places anyway, so go ahead and apply at that hospital and others. That's what I would do :) Good luck!
  4. When preparing for an interview, remember they're trying to figure out three things: If you can do the job, if you want to do the job and if you will fit in. Try to be confident - remember that the person who is interviewing you is just another person. Try to relax and just have a normal conversation. How do others prepare for interviews? I like to listen to calming music and think about successful times in my life.
  5. It's a matter of respect isn't it? But whenever I've been in the hospital, I try to remember that nurse's have seen it all. We're all people, though and you should expect nurses to treat you respectfully and to give you the dignity you deserve. It's always best to ask questions if you have them and advise about prior conditions. I'd definitely tell them about your incontinence.
  6. Nursing is going to become even more important in the coming years. Because health care systems throughout the world are gradually shifting attention toward models that do more to prevent and manage different types of diseases. Everyone must realize nurses has important role in our community
  7. Hello Be confident on what you are doing because you are dealing with health related problem here . Being a nurse requires knowledge and professionalism in handling patients.
  8. I like to play pc games and enjoy a new form of teamwork in the esports world. Sometimes I read books and watch movies. When im bored doing all those I go outside and get some fresh air with some friends.
  9. Great article and I total agree 100%!! Everyone has to be on the same page to get the best outcome!!! Being a negative, non team member only makes thins hard and more complicated.
  10. My sisters and I never went to the hospital either as kids. HOWEVER, there was a time I should have gone. I was playing baseball with neighborhood kids and I was the catcher. I was too close the the batter and got hit in the face with the bat. It broke my nose and I was knocked out for about a 1/2 hour I was told. I woke up vomiting and still did not go to the hospital. I started getting sick all the time and it took 18 years (1989) before anyone figured out it... it is Simple Partial Seizures. Because I do not black out... it confused doctors. So, If I had gone and received the proper test.... I may have been able to get some treatment that MAY have been able to help my condition. Plus, so may primary doctor's offices are worried about malpractice that their response is go to the ER.
  11. I would be glad I am out of there also.. MA should not dispense meds… but your out of there! Good for you!!!
  12. Thee are Ecig that have NO nicotine in them. You can start with a small amount of nicotine, go lower and then go to NO NICOTINE. So, if they use it for non-nicotine purposes.... It has to be better to help them quit that way... I WOULD THINK. I have never smoked, so this is an observation from my husband quiting.
  13. I do pretty good with the slide sheets… but not with the Lifting machines…. If I learn of any other ways… i will share. Good Luck!!
  14. Great job… you should be proud of yourself!
  15. a male cna/nurse in the medical field is looked upon as a strong individual. Most female nurses Love having a male around, we love that they are not catty and have muscles. ;-) Plus, from what I hear from my patients, they feel that male cps/nurses can be very compassionate. Plus, if your the only or if there are only a few males in that department, they get treated very well from the staff.... kinda like spoiled. Once your out in the field, you will see a difference. Good Luck in nursing school... stick with it... it will be very beneficial to you!! .
  16. Walking is not my best trait, Im better at flying!!
  17. " Do I have boot marks on my forehead? "

  20. Does everyone have those Dish antennas on their roofs??
  21. " Those reindeer games can get dangerous!! "
  22. As a Nurse, i would not treat people in a nursing home that way….. Especially, because my father was in a nursing home and I know how they can be treated and I was solo worried!! I was there almost everyday to make sure he had what he needed. Thank goodness at the time he was in the busing hem he still had his sense of humor and most people got along with him!! But it is hurtful to see others that are unhappy be treated with NO Respect!! THAT PERSON IS SOMEONE's MOTHER OR FATHER!!! Do you want your parents treated that way?? Do YOU want to be treated that way??? I agree with you 100%. May the care in our nursing homes only increase with kindness and caring!! Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!!!
  23. As long as you told your side of the situation in a professional way…. and there is still a problem, I would Privately speak with this person to see if you can possible come to an understanding. This way, when working the same shift… there will be less tension!!! Good Luck!!!
  24. I prefer the Littmann myself! I also have a lower end Littmann which is great!! Good Luck!
  25. I was thinking the same thing as SaoirseRN.... is a seat belt (as used for safety) allowed without it being a restraints. My husband is a school bus drive for Special Children in Philadelphia, PA and there is a differance between the two (for school buses anyway)! Some need restraints and some only require seat-belts. Good Luck!!!!
