  1. I've been in dialysis the whole time during my monitoring program so far. I do outpatient dialysis but Acute dialysis might be an option, I will find out soon I guess since I'm tying to move into that area! :)
  2. Check and see if your hospital is on the list of approved sites, if not you can request to add it :) I usually try and cram mine in my lunch break. Also, worst case I use patient first and pay the extra drop site cost since they are open til 10. Not sure if there is one in your area but it can be a life saver if you don't make it to the lab! And good luck in the monitoring program! Time goes by fast and as long as you do what they want it isn't too too bad :)
  3. Time def moves slow at first, but once you get in and get the hang of things it goes by quickly!
  4. Good luck! I am sure you will get in! It's better to be in the monitoring program than not in it when you are in our situations so I'll pray you get in!!
  5. So we know dialysis is monitoring friendly, and mental Health jobs from what I hear.. how about Healthsouth? Has anyone ever tried with this company? interested in a career move and at 4 years into the monitoring program you would think anxiety would have decreased now when interviewing:P
  6. I think more and more companies are getting familiar with HPMP and hire us. I think you have a better chance of employment if you are in the program because they see that you will do what it takes to keep your license. It's a stressful and hard program but it can be done :) for me it was more stressful using so I can say I would pick being in hpmp over going back into my lost days. Have to admit I'm counting down the months days hours and minutes until I never have to fill out another check in paper again
  7. I'm in dialysis but applied for some med/surg positions, less than 2. Years left in hpmp so hopefully I can find a hospital job my last couple years while under monitoring.
  8. We shouldn't have had to, I did anyway and it just said no/not selected. But in the handbook online it still says we don't have to check in on thanksgiving. So you should be fine!
  9. Did you ever find work in nursing? I've found jobs in dialysis but like vamurse said it is mentally taxing. The clinic I'm at now has been great until recently and driving an hour to work just to be exhausted with the upper managements inexperience and inconsideration for clinical staff is getting to be a bit much. Thankful for the job and ability to work as an RN thanks to recovery and hpmp, but longing for a place I love to work.
  10. I usually have said now that I've seen this would be a good fit for me, I want to make sure I'm a good fit for you, I'm in the monitoring program... Ect. Haven't had any bad responses
  11. Congrats!!! That must be an amazing feeling :) I have two years left and can't wait for that kinda news!
  12. One thing I can say is keep your head up and do the next right thing! This program is tough but manageable as long as you're sober! I've cursed it plenty of times over the past couple years but at the end of the day I'm thankful to have my life and opportunity to continue nursing.
  13. Just a short little update, did not hear back from the first interview in behavioral health but have since had a second interview for a dialysis job. This time I land a job I am keeping it for the remaining two and a half years of my contract! I had been back to work since this time last year but in August decided to get gutsy and leave my position in dialysis after being offered a job in hospital. told them about my monitoring program participation from the get-go but once I sent my RMC to them they recinded the offer. All I can say is whew its been a tough 4 months being unemployed again but I still have my 27 months of sobriety so I haven't lost the most important part of this journey :) hoping to hear by next week if I got the job will let everyone know any updates. this is was suppose to be a short update so I'll end it with happy holidays and bless everyone in this support network!
