  1. Charting question..

I had posted this on another thread but didn't get a response... I was wondering if some of you can shine some light on this: I just started working at an LTC, I'm a brand new nurse and finally got a job. I like all your guys' responses on how and wh...

  3. I'm just, disgusted........whatever.

. (jk)I hope you get the job... the way you are feeling is the way I always feel when i come out of interviews... it's hard to do well on them when you have failed "reading minds 101" lol.. Good luck... Vivi

  5. How My Instructor Affected My Life

I think that those of us who've had bad instructors should pat ourselves on the back. Nursing is tough, but trying to learn on a tougher environment created by the person who should be there to teach us is even tougher. None of us deserve this type...
  6. what if the letter from Ca BRN expires?

yikes! hold your horses... where are you? I'm a little confused here, and I won't be able to offer any advise. Please call the CA BRN and explain your situation... they should be able to enlighten you. Good luck.
  7. I am sorry

I believe that sometimes saying sorry is a way to calm an agitated pt or family member, it is also our way as compasionate beings to show sympathy for what the other person is going through... most people here say they are sorry, but they also accomp...
  8. nursing prereqs?? too old

Like Caliotter3 suggested, please go and check with all the programs available in your area. When your broaden your options your chances of getting in a program will be better. Good luck.
  9. Abbreviations

I have been reading the forum quite a lot lately... and I'm amazed at the amount of abbreviations some of us tend to use while posting a new thread or responding to one. In all honesty, I dont' know what most of them mean... and I'm a nurse!!! I can...
  10. Abbreviations

I'm sorry but there are some abbreviations that are used here that can't even be found on google... is like you are reading a good post and all of a sudden you lose the train of thought because one abbreviation that isnt even medical comes up. Somet...
  11. Ok, I just about hate Ltc now!

It sounds like my workplace... do I know you??? I'm sorry you feel like that, I know sometimes it seems like you can't do anything but so far you are doing good by staying out of hot water, but please if you feel like your patients' rights are being...
  12. Patient Rights?

I agree with everybody who has replied here. I must be honest and say that the title of this thread was misleading, I believe the MD gave advice, maybe not the one the pt wanted to hear but advice nonetheless. She was triaged accordingly to the rul...
  13. On-Set Movie Nursing Jobs

I've only known of movie sets hiring paramedics but not nurses. I think the only thing they worry about in a set is the actor or extra being on a life threatening situation. Besides if something like that were to happen, wouldn't a nurse have to cal...
  14. caes study scenerios

all you need to do is re-read very very carefully your case scenarios... you have the answers there :) . Use your critical thinking skills and have fun. Good luck.
  15. Insurance?

Nice work quoting TheCommuter :) ... Please get insurance as soon as you can. It is another way to CYA, my LTC is not good about offering us insurance, the one that I got was $45 a year (in CA). It isn't that expensive and it is worth it.
  16. 3 day orientation for new LPN

I agree with TheCommuter... consider yourself lucky with 3 days of orientation. I only had two, and believe me...once you are cut loose you feel like you didn't learn anything. One thing that I learned in my tortuous first week alone was to be orga...
  17. An issue of Disrepect

I'm a fairly new LVN, and have gotten the same kind of disrespect at the LTC facility I work at... and the funny thing is that it comes from othre, more experienced LVNs, or LVNs that couldn't pass the NCLEX-RN when they decided to move to this count...
  18. LOL, I actually thought your post was going to be about something totally different, and I had all this advise pilled up. LOL. But don't worry, fear is good, it'll make you think things more than twice, it will help you question orders and others pr...
  19. Mr. One More Thing........LMAO

How about the mother of them all? " NURSE!!!" :lol_hitti
  20. Charting question..

I have looked at my coworkers' charting and it sounds exactly the same as what I put on the opening post. I just dont want my charting to sound SO repetitive, and/or the same as my coworkers. This is quite frustrating, but like you said I will soon ...
  21. Charting question..

I see what you say Striver and I was also taugt the same thing, but this is first a different setting and a different situation. And there's where my confusion comes. All these things we are taught are usually not applicable to real life.
  22. Just graduated and now Charge with 60 pts!

Margie... what are your reponsibilities going to be?? and when they say charge nurse, what do they really mean?? I ask you this because I am currently working at an LTC, and I'm also a brand new nurse. I started my job and I am also a charge nurse, ...

I feel bad for waking up this thread.. but i have a question. I just started working at an LTC, I'm a brand new nurse and finally got a job. I like all your guys' responses on how and what to chart... but would you chart that on all of your pts???...
  25. AM care?

I must agree with the last two posters... When I was in nursing school I felt really bad for the aides, but they would tell me that after getting the AM care done they were free to help with other things. It doesn't matter how organized or how prepa...
