Without having to work, I think it'll be more manageable to focus on your classes. I'm taking Chem II and Micro this semester, and I'm doing just fine in both. I've noticed that there's a lot of repeated material in Micro from A&P, probably bec...

It's 4 credits, which tell me that it's 3 hours lecture + 1 hour lab. So the lecture portion might be online, but you may have to go to campus to fulfill the lab portion of the course. It says that "...skills will be developed in a laboratory progr...

I think that, of all the systems, the nervous system proved to be the most challenging. I still did pretty good on it, but when compared to the other systems in A&P 1 and 2, it took the most time to really get down. In A&P 2, the reproducti...

I'm not sure for where you're at, but for the area that I'm in, your cumulative GPA of all college courses you've ever taken are factored into the application process. For the school I'm looking to go for, the application consideration is broken dow...

Go to the hospitals in your area and see if they've got any sort of volunteering opportunities available. You should be able to volunteer around the hospital in different areas (and possibly neonatal) and sort of get your feet wet as to what the env...

If I could go back and do my science pre-reqs over (still in them actually, but nearly done), I'd do it in this order: 1. Chem I 2. Chem II + Microbiology 3. Nutrition + A&P I 4. A&P II Then sprinkle in your other classes (math, history, etc....
Gotcha, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. I think I'm 2 classes away from being able to get an Associate of Biology in Pre-Nursing, but I'd need to take their version of statistics, (which isn't going to happen, haha) and Chemistry ...
Ah, I see, but UTHSCSA doesn't require Spanish as a pre-req (at least, I don't see it on their site here), so wouldn't I have a little more time to get the transcripts sent in? I'll have all 60 of my pre-req hours done at the end of this Fall semest...
Wow, 1 week after the semester ends? Heh, that's cutting it a bit close, it seems. I actually volunteer at University Hospital during the week, and just had my annual health screen (had to get a TB done), but I'm not sure about my other immunization...
Oh, haha, understood, no problem! Actually, I do have a question: We need 51/60 hours done by deadline (though I should have all 60), but for those extra hours that I plan on taking, the Medical Terminology and Spanish, do you know if we need to re-...
Guess this is where I check in. This is my last semester of pre-req classes (Chem II and Micro) before I'm done with what's needed, though I'll be taking a Medical Terminology course and an intro Spanish course in the spring (been living in San Anton...

The answers to your questions will vary from school to school. Some require you do the TEAS, some require the HESI. Some want your scores before you apply, and some (I think) will want them at a later time. Some schools have a higher average score...

I'm planning on applying to UTHSCSA as well (Fall 2015). This is my last semester of required courses, but I still need to take the TEAS exam. I actually had nearly everything filled out for NursingCAS, but they switched to this new application, an...

1. That's usually how it works. 2 years of pre-reqs, then you go onto 2 years of nursing school proper. Some places just incorporate the whole thing as 4 years. But where I'm at, it's the first way I mentioned. But yes, once you're done or nearin...
Herrington replied to Tink Nurse to Be's topic in TEAS
As far as what to buy, I've heard a lot of good things about this book. People will spend a few weeks going over this book and get at least a mid 80 on the TEAS, which is pretty good.

I'm not in nursing school yet, but from what I gather, you don't have classes/clinicals every single day (at least, most schools don't), but with the amount of time and effort involved for the coursework, you may as well be there every day. See if y...

For your 3rd point, if something does happen and you need to fall back on another nursing degree, I would say go for the BSN, as a lot of places (hospitals primarily), are listing it as a job requirement. It'll make you more marketable later on.

I'm also going to toss in the advice for reading the book. I try and read what I think the professor will cover in class (sometimes I over or undershoot it), go to class, write whatever he puts on the board (he doesn't use powerpoints, and I'm glad ...
Speaking from having attended one of the information sessions for UTHSCSA, someone asked about classes that you take over again for a better grade, and the lady said that they don't take the higher grade, but rather, will average the two grades out (...

I'd physically drive down there and see what's up if they aren't getting back to you. See if you can find the office that's in charge of the program at SAC, and explain your situation. But yea, like J3w3lz88 said, work on the packet in the mean tim...

If I'm understanding your question correctly, then I shouldn't think that getting an average grade in a Spanish class would really cripple your ability to get into an RN program. Does the RN program you're looking into even require Spanish as a pre-...

I've heard of this as well. I went to the hospital I'm seen at and spoke with their learning resources department. They said that yes, they do offer it, but you need to have been accepted into nursing school and be employed with the hospital alread...

Well, I've not finished A&P II yet, but so far, I've liked the blood, though I'm really looking forward to the digestive system. In A&P I, the skeletal system was probably my favorite.
