  1. A different question

So I thought I would start this thread to ask a few questions besides the usual "how do I get into Nursing for the Military" questions that every keeps asking here. These questions are geared towards experienced military nurses if you could help out...
  2. A different question

Thanks Pixie, How about fun around the work place? Being that you're a Commissioned Officer, I know there is a certain professionalism and mature nature you have to instill in the enlisted group of Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, and Airmen. Can you s...
  3. Navy nursing

It would hurt to build up you're GPA but in all honestly I have a 3.3 GPA right now with just nursing pre-requisites. I have had a Navy medical health recruiter calling once every two months to find out if im ready to start the NCP application proces...
  4. Anyone Stationed at Fort Hood?

Never have been to Europe, might be pretty fun!
  5. Anyone Stationed at Fort Hood?

Any of the possibilities, im not looking for anything specific. Just some well rounded areas for anything you value. Personally, im single and have no dependents so I would value experience oriented installations.
  6. Anyone Stationed at Fort Hood?

I figured I would jump in on this thread and ask where the most coveted places to be stationed at are? (in you're own opinion) Navy and Army installations are what im looking for but I guess if an Air force candidate were to drop in, they might want ...
  7. From BSN to HM

You can not bypass (A school) but you do get a rank boost. I was training with one guy in (A school) that received his second class petty officer rank because he had a bachelors in a health care related field. I don't remember what his bachelors was ...
  8. Navy ncp taking applications now!

I was under the impression that you couldn't begin the application process until you were at least two years away from you're graduation date.
  9. Commissioned as an RN but doing something else

So it seems that nurses can be destined to be pilots if they so choose and work for it. What else is out their?
  10. So I thought I would ask if anyone has ever become or heard of anyone commissioned as an RN that ended up doing something other than being a nurse. Given that most of the time the branch you serve in tells you where to live and work; has anyone done ...
  11. Commissioned as an RN but doing something else

Well not to stir the pot too much but what other positions can an RN with a Bachelors in science or health science do with that degree? (aside from being a nurse that is) Just returning fire to the people who say its impossible What position, if any...
  12. Commissioned as an RN but doing something else

Humor me here but going off of what jfratian says about line officers and non-line officers... Lets say for example a fictitious John Doe who is a commissioned RN and holds a non-line officer position (obviously). John Doe has all the right credenti...
  13. Transitioning out of Nursing within VA

im sorry no one has given you an answer yet. Iv often questioned whether or not im making the right choice by choosing nursing myself. I changed my major 5 times before coming up with nursing and that's only because I had some enjoyment fulfilling s...
  14. join the army? too late for me, lol

Better to have a bunch of applicants waiting and retrying then to completely cut off any possible candidates. When a shortage does (and will) happen there will be plenty of people to pick and choose from in the waiting pool.
  15. navy nurse

+1 with what SoldierNurse22 says, you could do the enlisted route and spend 6 years doing something OTHER than nursing but that's not a good way to do it. Im not sure how a U.S. based school would credit you for your bachelors from another country bu...
  16. Navy NCP FY2016 Applicants

Your in an accelerated Nursing degree beccawigg? Can you just take more than the standard 12 credits a semester to try and speed it up? (15 - 18 credits) or more? Iv never actually asked my nursing department here if that would be possible because a ...
  17. What are the steps to joining the Nurse Corps?

I always thought that the GPA requirements were more like "guidelines" because if you made the grades to pass nursing school then your competent to be a RN. I guess they have to do something to weed out all the applicants they get.
  18. What are the steps to joining the Nurse Corps?

Why would it be a problem telling the branch your interested in that your applying to multiple branches?
  19. Direct Commission Air Force/ Army

Im only going off what each branches website says for age requirements. again, it would be a good idea to talk to the health care recruiter and find out for certain what it is.
  20. Direct Commission Air Force/ Army

As jfratian said, I believe the maximum age you can apply for a direct commission or at least be able to commission is by age 42. You could always talk to a health care recruiter from the branches your interested in and the worst thing they will tell...
  21. Army NCP back open?

Well part of the plan is to have the Navy / Army pay for my CRNA education. So that's off the experience check list for me. Ill just have to check with the Army Health Care recruiter next time he calls.
  22. Army NCP back open?

So im not trying to start up the old rumor mill or anything but after talking with the Army health care recruiter today, supposedly the Army's nurse candidate program (NCP) is back open. Also, if in the process of obtaining my bachelors for Nursing ...
  23. Army NCP back open?

aaaaa, the smoke screen is lifted! I bet that's the detail he's leaving out. Thanks for the input jfratian, those recruiters are crafty when it comes to leaving out details.
  24. Army NCP back open?

I am, or at least I assume he is. The funny thing is that 5 months ago; I asked to speak with someone from the AMEDD about the Army's NCP and it was nonexistent, they just completely did away with it. When I received the call the other day asking for...
  25. Army NCP back open?

ill have to reconfirm if all this information I received is backed up or not.
