Clubsingr28 has 20 years experience as a ASN, RN and specializes in Sub-acute, LTC, School Nurse.

I began at 23 as an LPN. Due to an LPN lay-off I lost a job I absolutely loved! I returned to College and received my RN. So after all, losing my job was actually the best thing that happened to me b/c I was a happy LPN and may not have returned to school otherwise.

Advice please: Withdrawal of feeding tube

I will have to take another look at paperwork and I would think MD would KNOW this stuff right BUT I believe my resident just had her husband's name and it said POA next to it. Then there were "contact phone #'s below with son's names listed- I don't...

Advice please: Withdrawal of feeding tube

Yes I do believe you may be right, especially because she was in the bed.. Also, the sons had their wives with them and they were all just standing around her bed NOT saying anything. She was a little wheezy as she sometimes gets so I went in to do a...

Advice please: Withdrawal of feeding tube

Exactly my thoughts, excellent points!! The BIG issue here is competence- And here is where my fight becomes difficult. Although there is no diagnosis of dementia there are times when she will say "yes" when she means "no" and vice versa. Sometimes ...

Advice please: Withdrawal of feeding tube

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I could not have said it ANY better!! If I even remotely felt the sons' decision was truly about "quality of life", I would not be having such a hard time, BUT, to never see them visit and then have them just "pop in" and ...

Advice please: Withdrawal of feeding tube

Oh and, "Mrs. G" never had an Advanced Directive prepared for herself therefore after the CVA, dysphagia with little ability to communicate, her husband was designated as her medical POA or proxy.. I just DO NOT understand HOW or WHY- it can now be c...

  11. Hello Nurses, I am having a serious personal inner struggle with a current issue at work. "Mrs. G" (who is 79) had a CVA last year with resultant hemiplegia & dysphagia. Subsequently she became a LTC resident of mine after her hospital stay. She ...

    Phone Calls

You will rarely be on the phone, maybe 3-10 minutes per DAY total! As a school nurse the MAJORITY of your time will be spent listening to student's (mostly tedious) complaints while trying to remedy them so that they may return to class. Just a heads...

I tok my NCLEX/RN 2 days ago and it's been the looongest 48hrs of my life! I got the "good pop-up" but I wouldnt believe it. But I just went to Pearsonvue and it allowed me to access the quick results for $7.95 and guess what?? The "trick" works, it'...

    Failed NCLEX

BUY IT!! Forget the "overinflated" lengthy wording of the Q's in the study guides, I have dozens of NCLEX study books but ncsbn was the best $50.00 I spent. I bought the 3 week program right before my NCLEX- They are the writers of the NCLEX. There's...
