    New grad, pregnant, job offer?

I would assume that it does have more to do with the weight/lift restriction. Nurses get pregnant all the time, but when someone gets put on any type of work restriction, they're off the schedule until they're cleared. Of course, laws and hospital po...

Took NCLEX, now waiting for transcripts to process.

I'm amazed that you actually got to talk to someone on the phone. I have no advice, but I wish you luck!

    In desperate need of advice!!!!

You either know it, or you don't. I suggest you go to Disneyland or some similar type of place. That's what I did to prepare for NCLEX, and apparently, it works.

If you could speak your mind...

The grandiose lies some patients' family members tell me make me want to say, "Doubt it!". I had one "medical doctor" ask me what I was giving his mother. When I told him it was penicillin, he asked me if that was for pain.

Do you feel safe at work?

Security at the hospitals I've worked at has been a "responsibility with no power" position ...they're not even allowed to touch patients or visitors. That being said, I still feel safer at work than I do in many other places. Life is dangerous, in g...

    LPN school Orientation

You are going to watch "The Lion King" and do each others hair. There will be a fancy appetizers and a swan carved out of ice. Wear your very best 70's attire if you want to be taken seriously. :artist:

    Nursing license Texas

If they did, then I suppose they can. Were you honest about your criminal history when applying for the Texas license? It does seem somewhat extreme that they would deny you outright...

    Falsely accused of med diversion

Yeah, I was trying to "help", but bypassing the scanning did create extra risk for the patients. It's inconvenient to be woken up, but safer. I do encourage people with lots of overnight antibiotics to sleep with their arm outside the covers so I can...

    Falsely accused of med diversion

Well, I posted my issue, too! And they are both related, so no harm IMO.

Comments to make on an Unjust write up?

Inferior can refer to the "rank" of an individual in the workplace the same way "superior" does. It's not necessarily a personal judgement or an insult. I would probably avoid using it because of the possibility that some may perceive it that way, th...

    Hired without taking refresher course

I know one who was off for five years and got hired ...no personal experience or co-workers who've been off longer than that, though. I would imagine that what you do (and how long you do it) before taking off makes a huge difference in how easy it i...

    Falsely accused of med diversion

When I initially read this post, I interpreted it as her as dismissing your explanation- not the entire issue, itself. I understand what you're saying, now ....doesn't sound like you were treated fairly.

Working in crisis mode all the time!

I worked like that as a new grad and could only keep everyone alive and "OK" by cutting corners in a big way. Often, patients with a blood sugar between 150-200 didn't get covered, for example ...even though there were orders, the priority wasn't hig...

    Working while awaiting license endorsement?

Would you want to hire someone who was waiting on a license and would be out the door as soon as they got one? Unless employers in your area are desperate or you're already so skilled in something that you can "hit the ground running", you may not be...

    Falsely accused of med diversion

The "other narcotic issue" might make it much less confusing (depending on what the issue actually was).

How do I quit my job the RIGHT way?

Yikes! I think they'd start asking co-workers to call me or just show up at my house. My per diem job is pretty aggressive about "getting my days". My last job kept calling for months even after I formally resigned, but it was full time.

Really bad fever blister. Should I call in?

Quote from LeChien My whole face is embarrassing but I don't call out every day because of it I think she was just being a bit silly.

How do I quit my job the RIGHT way?

Congratulations on your new job! If you're on the schedule, at all, call and send a formal resignation letter. If you're not on the schedule, the letter alone might work.

Do you think I failed my CNA Exam?

Where is a magic 8 ball when you need one? I wish you luck, but I have no idea if you passed or failed.

Resume and Cover Letter Help Please

I would leave the first and the last out. A good employee should be able to lead or follow. And saying that you don't get involved in "drama" is dramatic, in itself. The middle two could be re-worked ...but I don't care for them as they are. I'll st...

How old is too old to become a new RN?

Wonderful, but creative writing is a very different world than nursing. I don't think I could do either at age 93, though ...so good for her!

Really bad fever blister. Should I call in?

I've gone to work with a black eye and that was no fun. You have my sympathy. I had no idea cold sores were a legitimate call-in reason in some circumstances. Now I know!

    Falsely accused of med diversion

Just follow policy. I've also been "flagged" by pharmacy in the past ...for scanning a patients' labels (instead of their arm bands) too often when giving IV piggybacks late at night. The patients were well-known to me and would have had to be woken ...

    Feeling guilty..

You don't have a job offer yet ...and there's a possibility that you might not get one. Don't get too far ahead of yourself. Go to the interview, see what they say, then decide what to do. Bringing this up to your current employer, at this point, wou...

Nursing Student Working At A Hospital

In may help in some cases, but not in all. I've worked with several CNAs who were not able to secure a nursing position (at the hospital they worked at) after graduating. Of the three popping into my mind, they were way above average in their work an...
