Are most LVN jobs in nursing homes?
I work in a pediatrics doctor's office! It's FABULOUS!
-
I hate it
If you feel your license/ safety/wellbeing is in danger then you have every right to find a new opportunity you would be more comfortable working in, it doesn't hurt to look around and apply to new places even if it's only been 2 months you still have experience and you now know a little more about what not to do as a nurse and future employers will understand that and like the fact that you wanted a better opportunity/ place to work because of those reasons
-
What do you so to relax from nursing school?
YES there's a TON of reading already involved in school just a forwarning...you may eventually reading "for fun," tends to decline
-
What was your first LPN job?l
Pediatric Office, although I also work PRN in a LTC facility

"Doing too much"
Who cares what your neighbor says....like you said she has nothing to show for herself. I am also 23 recently earned my LPN license and now work as a peds nurse. Planning to go on to the RN bridge program once I get those pesky pre-req's out of the way. Keep up the good work! Best of luck to you in your studies!

Will I be Stuck in LTC???
Take the job for the experience, work there for a few months until a better opportunity comes your way, in the mean time you have something to add to your resume that will look good after coming out of nursing school...not everyone gets their #1 choice fresh out of school but you will have an opportunity to network and find what you really want and show experience to your future employers which is what they want

How many people are in your nursing class?
Started at 50...18 graduated

Less men in pediatric nursing?
Definitely less in the peds office I work in we're down to one male nurse now with 15 female nurses. Some men are intimidated. It sounds funny but in nursing school the only male student in our class and I worked together on the peds unit in the hospital and he felt like he couldn't connect with the patients like the females in the class did and it made him uncomfortable working with the kids.

Job Interview at the Birthing Center
How awesome!!! That is so exciting to hear a lot of LPN's around my area aren't hired for L&D and PP nursing due to the increased demand for RN's to fill these positions so it''s encouraging to hear there's still opportunities out there. Best of luck to you!

Nurses who are short and petite
I work in peds & even with the kids I sometimes have to be the one standing on the step stools to take vitals...they don't mind though as long as you have a good sense of humor about it and aren't afraid to ask for help when you need it you'll be fine

That's wonderful news what nursing program are you in?

Should I get a nice car as a new LPN/LVN?
Who cares about what you drive. Your job is taking care of patients not worrying about how shiny your car is

Working closely with Doctors
Sounds to me like the old DOC there needs to take a chill pill. He's use to depending on you and when you can't be there (which it's impossible to be available 24/7) he throws his little temper tantrums, he needs to have a little faith in the other nurses after all they wouldn't be working there if they were incapable of doing their jobs

The patients you love working with.
Working two jobs now one in a peds dr office and the second in an assisted living facility for the elderly. Huge difference between age groups but I just couldn't give up my position at the AL facility because you grow attached to the residents for example there is a couple who had met years ago in Europe while he was stationed there in the military, fell in love, had a family and due to her health is now a resident because she needs the extra care and attention around the clock. BUT he never left her side moved in to be with her and is with her everyday even during her bad days. Who couldn't love that? True love right there.

1st Day in a Peds office
Why thank you! I've been working in the office a few weeks now. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Looking back on Nursing school makes me finally see all the hard work and stress/sweat/blood and tears it takes to graduate are totally worth it. You can do it! Best of luck to you as well with your studies and definitely take it all in! Like you said some days can be upsetting as with any career choice but the rewarding days out number them by a ton!!!

Role Transition
Your role is changing even while your still a student your becoming more responsible in providing the care for each and everyone of your patients more duties/tasks will be handed off to you and you will be expected to take them on and know what the next step will be. Anything from reading lab values and identifying what the problem is to knowing the side effects of your patients medications and what you need to be prepared for in case there's that chance they have a reaction. Your now becoming in charge of people's lives while they're in your care and some of them will love you and some of them will curse you it's all a part of being a nurse. Your there to help them when they need it the most. They'll be relying on you to step up to the plate.

Has anyone grown to love nursing
I started as a Finance major at my local community college. Had an opportunity to be a student aid for a young lady who was a brain cancer survivor and assisted her during her school day. Came to find out it was so much more rewarding to help her then to sit behind a desk shuffling papers and punching numbers. (Not that there's anything wrong with that) but she helped steer me in the direction of nursing and once I started nursing school and got to work with more and more patients it just made it even more rewarding. The patient's won't always remember your name but they'll remember how you made them feel and I'd rather be known for that then the girl with the desk job.

LPN's and travel nursing?
Just wondering in general what opportunities would be open for LPN's if they were to be interested in travel nursing
