  1. Must move with only 4 mos in 1st RN job (hubby job xfer)!!

That's def a tough situation. You're right it is hard to find a job as a new grad, especially since the application always says "at least one year". I would stay and continue to work for as long as you can, at least 2 more months so it can be 6 month...
  2. Which Kaplan Q-Trainers are essential?

YES, do 6 and 7...they were the most helpful and very similar to my nclex..I took my nclex in January and passed
  3. New grads and the VA

It doesn't hurt to call, but if their announcement prefers you to have your License, then I would wait.
  4. I called my local recruiter who was very kind, he said he couldn't take me because I have no experience in nursing. I just graduated.
  5. Keep trying, or give up :(

I say to try as much as you can, once you get rejected then you should move on. You never know until you try. I know many people are trying to get into nursing school which only makes it harder.
  6. Charles Drew University ELMSN FAll 2013

I'm almost graduating from there...the school has all its accreditation (NLNAC, CCNE, WASC) which is a big relief for me. I personally like how the school is growing. Students opinions and voices are heard. If you are a good student you'll do fine. T...
  7. VA Nursing and Interviews

congrats...it took two months from the day I applied to my first day of orientation. I was told my application was expedited. I was only asked 4 pbi questions....I was so nervous the day before but you really have to relax. I usually start of with a ...

    NOT california
  9. Interview Question Help

i rather hear about the marathon than the c section. Not many people run a marathon, so its pretty remarkable with a foot injury.

  11. Nursing school with Children

Congrats!! As a single mom, my son was 18months during nursing school. My number one advice, gather all your babysitting resource. Each semester our scheduled changed and my school threw so many last minute thing including night shift clinicals. Dep...
  12. Which nursing program should I pick?

    1) Dont choose pre-nursing...to risky. 2) Getting a RN job as a new grad is challenging...so choose a location that has a need for nursing that will take you as a New Grad
  13. Denied and lost

Many people are applying to nursing school. My rule of thumb, apply to more than one school if you can. So yes, apply to TWU. I know the money thing can be scary, but there are loans. I did the MSN program and it cost me 60K !!! The biggest debt I ev...
  14. it doesnt hurt to try...but so many people are applying to nursing school, so your GPA might be on the lower end. Check to see if the school have a GPA requirement. I hope I'm wrong. Good luck
  15. NCLEX RN DONE and advice

im a believer of the pearson trick. I did it and all of my classmate did it. There was one girl who really failed and when she did the trick, it took her to the credit card page. Relax!!!

i checked one hour later, then i checked three hours later, then every 4 hours after for two days until my name showed up on the BRN website!!
  17. Less than 5 days til my RN Boards.. nerves way up

my scores were not much different from yours. I averaged 59-63% on my question trainers. I did all of them twice. I finished 30% of the Qbank (average score 55%), but I did all the mini quiz test. I passed my NCLEX with 150ish questions. I knew with...
  18. Am I ready to take my NCLEX??

I had only one week to study for my exam. For my Q trainer i averaged 60 and Q bank I averaged 55. I was sure I was going to fail, but I passed at 150ish. I trusted my instructors who said I was good to go, but warned me I was not going to pass at 75...
  19. I understand where you are coming from, but its the accreditation that has its requirement. Look into loan forgiveness for nurses who pursue a higer education for teaching.
  20. Accelerated BSN vs Direct-Entry MSN option

I did the direct MSN program with a CNL concentration. Honestly in my personal experience, it doesnt matter what program you do because you really need to have the basic RN skills before you can advance. The only way you can get the skills is by work...
  21. Master's program with no research requirement??

I just finished my MSN, we did not have a "thesis project"....I read an article that "thesis project" for various degrees are not the norm anymore. Anyways, even though I did not do a "thesis", I wrote many research papers each semester. The most req...
  22. online school vs traditional

I agree, as long as it has the right accreditation. I learn just as much in class as I do online. Being a working mom, online school has been a life saver.
  23. MSN

management/leadership, you can do more with that. In my hospital you can go into educatin with a management background, but its harder or less desireable to go into management with an education background
  24. BECOMING A NURSE???

My background: Liberal studies major...had no luck with jobs, so I did the entry level master program in nursing and got my RN in two years. I was 28. Sadly, it took me 5 months to get a job...by connections. Sadly some of my classmates are hitting t...
  25. RN to BSN or RN to MSN

hello, I recently graduated from an Entry Level MSN program. My BA was in something not related to nursing. I understand here in CA it can be challenging landing a job, but I felt with a MSN I might have an edge...not the case. My first interview the...
