  1. In 2 Days....

Hello! I start Sept. 3rd. I'm super excited. My daughter turns 2 this year as well ^! I am employed as a pharmacy technician at the hospital system that I've been at for 6+ years, so I am keeping my benefits and staying here just decreasing my hou...
  2. All of this reading!!!

Look at the charts in the book, that may help you visualize some of the what you're reading.
  3. CNA to LPN what's a good school

You can apply for Fall 2015 (LPN and/or BSN) for early admission before Oct 31st. Just go up to the school and reqister for the TEAS-V exam and you can also enroll in some pre-reqs for Winter 2015 semester if you like.
  4. LPN orientation

They didn't tell us to get a lab kit at the Warren campus. Maybe I should order one off the website.
  5. CNA to LPN what's a good school

Yes ma'am. At Davenport you can take your pre-reqs while in the program, but that will increase your workload. I have taken all the pre-reqs except A&P I and II, and I will have 12 credits this semester, 15 credits for Winter and 12 for Spr/Sum....
  6. Feeling Defeated

I second the YouTube videos. When I was taking my Math pre-reqs I was going nuts trying to learn another way than what my teachers taught...bam! You Tube.
  7. 12 days of freedom left

Same here. I am going to freeze a few meals to throw in the crockpot. I am making schedules for my daughter (day care/child care while her day and I are at school/work) and I (school/work/clinicals). Best wishes fellow future ! We can do this!
  8. Davenport fall 2014 potentials

Thanks Detroitnurse2b, I am more than likely going to apply for Fall 2015 (while in the LPN program).
  9. prereqs

It depends on your program. Private school may or may not accept coursework from other schools (that is why I waited a year to get accepted into another program). My school has an equilavency transfer guide for what is able to be transferred in. I...
  10. 2014 LPN students

Kshamab113, (1) you can do anything...you're a mother, which means YOU ARE SUPERWOMAN to your child. Stay positive and you can do anything you put your mind to. (2) Two of my books we are using for more than one semester, so I am going to buy those...
  11. hesi 5th attempt

Whoa! I'm not looking forward to that. But you can do it!
  12. hesi 5th attempt

Best wishes! Are you taking your exit HESI?
  13. Do I have to join facebook?

I know a woman that uses FB strickly for connecting with other moms that home school their children. My aunt (RN) uses it to keep up with her family out of town. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do, but you don't have to post anythi...
  14. As of tomorrow, I'm no longer PRE-nursing!

smmctowelie69, I wish my clinicals were 8-2, mine are 7am-7pm. I'm really hoping we don't stay that long. I understand they are preparing us for life as a nurse, but that spells burnout as a student to me. I'm ready though!
  15. As of tomorrow, I'm no longer PRE-nursing!

Best wishes fellow future ! I start my LPN program Sept 3rd. I'm super excited and anxious.
  16. Should I try out Social Work

Yes both jobs help people, but nursing is a passion that ONLY nurses possess. I wanted to go for my BSW/MSW, but Nursing is my passion. I am finally starting an LPN program and am so excited. I am still on a waitlist for ADN at a community college...
  17. First two days of LPN program

Just buckle down, put your game face on, and focus on the goal.
  18. Winter driving to school

Fundamentals (Mon 6-9pm), Pharm 1 (Mon 3-5pm), BIOL A&P 1 (T/TH 6-8PM), Lab for the first 6 weeks SAT 8-12, then clinicals on SAT 7am-7pm at a nursing home as well. Its about 20 min away from me.
  19. Canadian RN

It can't be hard at all, because there are alot of Canadian nurses that work at my hospital, but I know some of them did attend Wayne State University. Call around to a few potential employers.
  20. CNA first or Classes?

I would say to start taking your pre-reqs and get good grades, then you will have the best opportunity at getting into the nursing programs when you are ready. Take your science classes last, because those usually have a 3-5 year limit. If you could...
  21. I was going to start reading my fundamentals book too, looks like I'll start with A&P (I have A&P I, Nursing Foundations and Clinical, and Nursing Pharmacology I for the first semester of my LPN program). I'm glad I finished all my other pre-...
  22. Good! Congrats, I think you will do great. Like I said in my previous post, the two people I know that attended did great and passed their boards on the first try. I hope and pray that Davenport's LPN (my program) program is the same.
  23. Apps for LPN students

Cool, thanks. My school is pushing for us to get the skyscape, so is it worth the money? I might get it. And yes android has the lippincott apps, thank you so much. I just downloaded a few.
  24. Advice for those with "harsh" instructors.

Communication is key in any relationship (personal, business, educational, etc...). And always remember that all personalities do not and will not get along, so just stay respectful and keep the communication lines open.
  25. Winter driving to school

I am from Detroit, MI (right across the bridge from Canada...I don't know if your in Windsor) and I know at least 5 people that commute to Ohio (Toledo area) about an hour drive from Detroit. You can do it! My class schedule is only Mondays (3-5pm,...
