  1. I completed the program in 2 billing sessions (Nov. 2019-Apr. 2020 in just under 6 months). I would do it again and would recommend it to others. I'm not the most tech savvy millennial, and I knocked it out (with a death in the family, starting virtual learning for my second grader, and figuring out my work life during Covid).
  2. Thank you all so much for your information on Capella. I'll be starting the RN-BSN soon.
  3. I like both health systems. DMC-health insurance is not as good as it was a few years ago. Lots of variety and specialty positions, but lots of transitioning of management with Tenet. Ascension-transitioning as well as it becomes a bigger market here in MI. I see more community based/preventive care in the health system. Both offer paid holidays, weekend premiums, shift diffs, etc... Depends on what location/unit for specific benefits/certifications of course. But I received good training that prepared me for all positions I've held at both health systems (DMC-I was a CPhT for almost 8 years, mommy/baby RN for about 8 months/Ascension-Med-Surg LPN 10 months, Community Health RN-new position of 3 months). Hope this helped a little.?
  4. I don't know if you're still interested, but I've worked for both DMC and Ascension (St. John).
  5. I graduated May 5th, took my NCLEX May 29th, found out I passed 2 hours after completion via email from LARA/ACCELA (state board), pay was increased at my current position by $3 an hour (LPN rate to RN rate), and I have just accepted a position as a full time Postpartum nurse. These last 2 months were very intense and flew by fast. I brushed up on areas that I did not have a full understanding for NCLEX of via ATI study materials, a 35 page pdf i found on this site, and you tube (Remar nursing, Mike Linares, Sara for Registered Nurse RN) for a few weeks. Idk what my overall was as I have an associate degree in liberal arts from Henry Ford College, a pharmacy technology certificate from Henry Ford, classes taken at Baker, and my LPN was completed at Davenport. So i transferred all of that in when I applied to Schoolcraft's LPN-RN bridge program (NCLC or something like that is the official name). I wouldn't stress about it if I were you. Hope that helped.
  6. There is a rotation list sent out before the class starts that has you put your choices in order. Advanced Med-Surg I had 2 clinical days (07:00-14:30), one 4-5 hour class with 2 instructors. Psych I had one 12 hour day at clinical that I loved, with a 3-4 hr lecture class, OB/PEDS one 8 hour clinical for peds (07:00-15:00)and one for OB (15:00-23:00) and a 5 hour class split between two instructors, and leadership depends on which clinical you select. Hope that helped. I was able to work 24-36 hours per week as an LPN and take vacation days while preparing for exams.
  7. I met a classmate in my first class in Fall 1 and we studied together the entire program. We met at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, libraries (she's a mom too, so we had study dates with our kids with coffee and snacks). I studied with some of my clinical group members for exams sometimes too.
  8. Just completed NURS 248-very intense! Study the materials/disease processes that are on your PowerPoints from this class (OB/Peds). On my way to leadership in 2 weeks and ready for graduation. I'm very blessed, grateful, and happy to have made it through the core nursing classes (there are a few classmates that will be returning in the fall to complete a class they didn't pass).
  9. I was placed in the Fall 2017 class, but had a fellow classmate from my LPN program at DU get placed in Fall 2018 and she was bumped up and is now in the same cohort with me. Sidenote: The program is based on 7 week classes (ex: 1/2 semester in MedSurg, other half in Psych) with only 3 exams for each class. Intense!
  10. I went from 14-15, and we had approx. 2 days when classes were held and I was blessed to have 12 hour clinicals for 1st and 2nd semester, so I only had to go once per week. So a total of 3 days to devote to school schedule. I went part time at work in the middle of 2nd semester as it started to become to much. Best wishes. Reflecting-I loved Davenport, I am now in an LPN-RN program that is not as organized as DU.
  11. I didn't. I submitted the rotation form, received my 1st choice, and was able to register for class though. I am dropping off the background check and the other forms that were sent via email tomorrow.
  12. Yes, the letter was very "generic". I emailed the nursing office today for more info, as I do not know how Schoolcraft goes since I am a transfer student.
  13. Update: I received my letter in the mail today that I am listed for the Fall 2017 LPN to ADN cohort. Any Schoolcraft Nursing alumni that can give me insight on the scheduling of classes/clinical for the program?
  14. Hello AN! I just passed the TEAS 6 at Schoolcraft this past Friday (after not scoring well enough in science on the TEAS 5 earlier this year). All of my pre-reqs have been accepted (from HFCC and Davenport, where I completely my LPN last year) and am now just waiting for contact from the school after submitting my resume and hours worked. I'm starting this thread to keep in touch with other Fall 2017 hopefuls, as well as alumni of this program to give us insight. Thanks in advance.
  15. I graduated from Davenport's LPN program (Warren campus) August 2015. I am currently an Assistant Health and Wellness Director at an assisted living and just started at St. John on a med-surg unit. I went in with credit (an associate degree from Henry Ford) and only had to take BIOL 115 and 116 (I believe those were the classes) while in the program. Our classes were held 2 days per week and you had clinical (so happy I had 12 hour clinicals instead of going two days per week), so I was able to work, study, and be a mommy/wife. I loved Davenport, but at $600+ a credit hour, I did not go back for my BSN there. Even with tuition reimbursement/discounts depending on your employer/scholarships, its alot of debt to rack up. Depending on your networking and what area you want to go in, you can make the same amount as an RN. LPN and RNs actually get the same amount at the assisted living I work at (starts at $23/hr.), but is you want to go to the hospital, I'd advise going back for your RN (I make about $11 less than new grad RNs on the med-surg unit). It's just all about what you want long term.
  16. I agree with most of the other nurses. But I do have a point if view on the subject that my be different: marinol and other weed derivatives are proven to do more good than harm unlike other RX only medications. I've worked with nurses "on" Xanax, methadone, and other meds for stress and health problems due to their career in the healthcare field and I personally would feel safer and believes it would be more cost effective to "use"/" indulge "/" take" weed (smoke it or eat the edibles). It's really interesting that something much safer, with less side effects than some expensive, RX only meds is not being discussed more often.
  17. I am bridging my way through my nursing career as well. I finished my LPN in August (passed my NCLEX in October and started my first nursing job a week later!), then going on next fall for LPN-RN, and will work on my BSN (with tuition reimbursement), and so on. Best wishes! If you know what you want, you will do whatever you can to get it accomplished.
  18. Yes, it depends on the facility. Started at $23/hr at my first LPN, but my classmates are ranging $20-$26. We are in the Metro Detroit area.
  19. Congrats! I just passed last week!!!!! I know your excitement level.
  20. Thank you so much!!!!
  21. My program director encouraged us to send in your application mailed in and get fingerprinted about a month before graduation (which was a good idea); so I mailed mine in in July of 2015 (well about 2-3 weeks before graduation, lol), graduated in August of 2015, the school sent the transcripts in the last week of August, and I received my letter to test the last week of Sept., so I scheduled my exam the last week of October (you have to pick what is available through Pearson Vue, and I my wedding was on 10/10/15 so I wasn't in a super rush)...and found out I passed two days later!!!!! So it really depends on when your school sends your transcripts to the state's BON.
  22. Don't be nervous. I believe I was in the 60s and 70s for percentages, but I can't recall the actuals. DU doesn't have a waitlist like most schools, so as long as your scores are "okay"...you'll be fine. I transferred there from Henry Ford after I got my acceptance letter.
  23. I had alot of SATA and prioritizing. Practice those types of questions...I used Kaplan.
  24. Our school had us mail out our applications and start the process a month before we graduated; that way your file will already be started. We graduated the first week of August and the school sent us an email that our transcripts were sent to MI BON in Lansing around the end of July. I am already a licensed pharmacy technician here in MI, so my fingerprints were on file and just had to be transferred from pharmacy to nursing (both are health professions licenses). I received my ATT the last week of Sept., took my NCLEX on Tuesday, and checked the MI BON website today and I'm an LPN!!!!!!! So I'd say it really depends on your school. I seriously doubt if they sent them the next day though.
