  1. iim having a hard time finding a textbook does anyone have them already?
  2. You get early acceptance if you meet the proper GPA which is 3.2 I believe. They start giving out acceptances within 4 months of applications opening but the earlier you get in your documents the better.
  3. Has anyone registered for classes yet
  4. YAY. I was finally accepted this morning I'm so lucky they still had seats left I was told I cut it really really close...Has anyone else heard good news?
  5. has anyone else heard anything back?
  6. With all due respect you quoted some blurb off of the website which states grades are considered first and then application date secondary, however you say something that is totally opposite. Also, it's not conjecture I've found these discrepancies through collaberating with others who are applying for the same intake as me (via this forum). I'm also curious as to why any of this would be relevant to you, you seem to take a strong stance on defending GMU's horrid admissions procedures which might lead one to believe you're affiliated with them in some way. In no way did I claim superiority because of my grades I'm simplying playing the game just like the other hundreds of applicants who apply every year. You seem to be in distress that the only things required for admission are grades which suggests that you don't think people who get in on grades are deserving, unfortunatley this process is something I have no control over. Perhaps back in the 1800s they required applicants to profess their undying love to the profession but that's not the case these days.
  7. I realize that 65% for a mature student is probably a marketing ploy to get you to blow $70 only to find out 8 months later you actually need 80% but I'm not in that boat. It's just frustrating after spending countless hours on getting the grades needed and paying money to take extra courses you're denied on a trivial thing like application date. I was warned about the appalling admissions department at Macewan sort of makes me regret declining UofA which did give me an acceptance but the reputation at the GMU lured me in.
  8. You still havent explained the huge contradiction with what they say in their pamphlets and what they tell you when you go in to ask about your application. Application date should be secondary critera but apprently that's not the case judging from you and the lady i spoke with today.
  9. Hi Janfrn, the peice you quoted goes agaisnt everything they are telling me. It says that academic performance is primary criteria and application date is secondary. The competetive average is 80% and I was told today I have a 94.3% which is well above the average. I find it hard to believe that everyone applying had a higher average than me. In all honesty I think they are behind in evaluating applications and are putting everyone on a waitlist until they can get everything sorted out. Just a hunch. So if one person has an 82 and another has an 87% you're telling me the person with the 80% would get in over the other because they applied a little earlier? That's insane..
  10. So I called Macewan today and they updated my portal to this: We have evaluated your application and currently you meet the requirements of the program; however there are not spaces available at this time. As soon as spaces are available you will be notified by the Office of the Registrar. Basically she said that I met the competetive average but they werent sure how many spots are left and that if I didnt get a change in status before Oct 1st that I should reapply for next septemeber?? What the heck I met conditional acceptance months ago but they didnt bother to update my portal until today - the day I decided to call them. I'm going to hold out untill Oct 1st but if my status doesnt change before then I'm going to talk directly to whoever is in charge of applications because it's unacceptable.
  11. Hi tiggerRN when did you recieve acceptance? Was it a package or did it show something on your Macewan student center? I guess if you got conditional acceptance this early you must have been really high like an 85%+ average? I really think we should see some big changes on our files this week for those of us who havent heard anything.
  12. Yep its the same stats class if you can try and get that class done before year 2. Anyways have you heard anything yet on your account? Mine still says pending highschool transcripts even though ive sent them a month and a half ago.
  13. hows the program at uofa? hows cbl working out for you?
  14. Simple solution to a tragic story. Look for a job while you tolerate that hell, but DO NOT QUIT OR LEAVE if you don't already have a job lined up.
