Hi everybody! I did hear back from broward college nursing department. I was told that they would accept CHM1032. They had mentioned if i had taken all my pre-reqs at broward I would be allowed. So my advice is just make a phone call and double check just to make sure. I asked if i needed special permission to apply using CHM1032, I was told no that I should apply by Sep 15.

Wow thank you for making me feel so much better about taking the cna prep course, since ive already taken a five month PCT course at mcfatter, you would think i would be ready to nail the cna state exam. I cant believe i was told mcfatter was one of the top tech schools in broward county. Let me begin by telling you i spent a long stretched out five months in a small classroom with one teacher who was not competent enough to teach the class about simple blood types. She would constantly misspell hers words on the board and she only seemed to care about her reputation to the school than the students actually education. She would make us stay longer than we had to only to make the hours she was required to put it in! The only thing that made me feel like the program was some-what worth it was the fact that we had to do a two month clinical in the hospital. That is basically where i learned most of my information. Due to the teachers lack of knowledge i only felt 50% prepared for clinical everytime which caused me to shy away. Dont worry because when i get to nursing school its going to be a totally different ball game. I know mcfatter has the 120 cna course, but i took the 600 pct course and still feel like im not prepared for the state exam. They do not teach the 21 skills for the test and what we do in clinical is obviously not how they want you to perform on the exam. I am getting money together to attend paramount. Aspiring to be great- dont worry you will make it... all it takes is a little bit of confidence. Watch as many youtube videos as you can and practice on all your friends. I just want to do it at paramount because they teach you exactly how its done on the test. This is just a stepping stone to nursing school. No amount of school can prepare you for the real world, so getting a job as a PCT is going to be a huge plus for me! good luck to everyone aspiring to be nurses, we will get there!

CNA South Florida!
Hi thank you so much for the information. I called paramount and I decided im definitely going to take the prep course and then take the state exam with them. I just need to save up money. I was told it would be $518 total for the prep course, processing fee for the fingerprints and for the state exam itself. Im just wondering was there any other costs for the book and were you required to buy/wear a uniform during the class and exam? Are you working right now as a Cna? Where are you planning on doing your RN studies? Im stuck between broward college and Fau. Timing issues is my main concern. Sorry for all the questions but like most nursing students we never could ask enough questions. :)

Broward College starting Jan 2013
Hi everybody! I finally decided I am going to apply for january admission to north campus. After the horror stories i have heard about central. North is where ive decided to go. Also the clinical sites for north are more appealing to me versus central. I have completed all the pre-reqs with all A's and one B in Anatomy lab I. I did not complete college algebra. I have emailed a lady from the admissions process to request that my chm1032 course be accepted. Shackna13- when you say chm1032 will be factored into the admissions gpa, does that mean college algebra is not required? I am waiting for a reply i only sent out the email this morning. Anyway im very excited to finally start. I hope to get in, the only left for me is the hesi. Im not to worried about it. I will just go over a few study guides to refresh my math skills and read over my A&P cliff notes handbook. I am curious to read some feedback from people in the program. More recent feedback. Ive read alot of horror stories about BC especially central campus, but alot of those postings are old and im curious if there have been some positive changes. Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi ive read your post and i want to take the cna license exam. I actually took a five month course at mcfatter tech center in davie florida. I completed the course about 6 months ago. We have to sign up for the cna exam through prometrics and pay out $165 to take the state exam. I made the mistake of putting it off and continuing my studies at broward college and working my part time job. Ive made the decision to take the cna exam but i am worried about my skills. Even though it was only 6 months ago, the cna exam requires you to be very thorough. Anyway what im trying to say is im looking for a refresher prep course before i go to take the exam. From what you described paramount sounds very hands on to take the state exam. They actually review all 21 skills. Im wondering if i can just take the course through paramount and then take my cna exam through prometrics as i am worried the cna exam administered by paramount is not approved because i didnt see it on the website of state approved cna programs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
