  1. Filipino nurse help on CGFNS CES filing!

You have to submit a copy of your HS diploma or any other evidence of your secondary education to CGFNS, regardless of which type of report you will be requesting. The requirements are the same for both, and it can be found here: http://cgfns.org/fil...
  2. Filipino nurse help on CGFNS CES filing!

You should have two forms. The one that says academic transcript or something like that goes to your school. The other one, license validation, goes to prc.
  3. Which is more difficult NCLEX or NLE?

NCLEX. You have to know how to analyze questions. You can pass NLE just memorizing stuff, but not with NCLEX.
  4. Help!! What is the good review center for NCLEX?

Same here, I enrolled in Kaplan. But their review program is not the spoonfeeding type. Its a self-paced review, so you have to manage your own time.
  5. Kaplan and saunders scores

You can apply for it online, but the forms from your nursing school and PRC need to be sent by postal mail. CGFNS also does a certification program, or CP, which consists of the CES, the CGFNS exam, and an English exam. 70ish on Kaplan, 80ish on Saun...
  6. Fastest state to give/approve eligibility

I applied at Vermont. I got my eligibility in 3 months, but that doesn't include the CES report from CGFNS. My CES report took around a month.
  7. Acute/ Chronic Renal Failure

I would go with the ESRD patient too. Frequent PVC's can lead to V-Fib, a fatal circulatory problem. Kussmaul's respiration is a compensatory mechanism to balance the acidosis. So, between potential V-Fib and metabolic acidosis, I'd see the former fi...
  8. You may be able enroll in BLS, First Aid, or other trainings or seminars without a Philippine license, but the catch is that your BRN (or whatever institution you're working for) might not accept or recognize them. As for gaining experience in hospit...
  9. After below the knee amputation?

Pancuronium is a muscle relaxant. Neostigmine and Atropine have opposite effects. Neostigmine is an anticholinesterase, meaning it opposes or decreases the effect of the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, resulting in an increased level of ACh. A...
  10. When did you take your NCLEX?

I graduated March 2008, and took the NCLEX just last month. So, more than 3 years after graduation. Initially, I wasn't really planning on working as a nurse - I actually enrolled and passed first year med school. But then, I got pregnant and, so now...
  11. No, I wasn't on hold. It's just that I didn't trust the PVT 100%. I knew that there had been some takers who got the CC page but in reality, they passed. Who knows, it could have been the other way around for me. If I may ask, what's the reason your ...
  12. How do you study?

I answer all questions before moving on to the rationales. I do this so I can time myself, and try to gain some type of "test endurance" because I get hungry so soon. LOL
  13. I can totally relate! The first couple of days after my exam, my husband had to literally make me go out of the house so I don't stalk the Pearson Vue website too much. I was logging in a million times a day to see if my quick results were up!
  14. Where do I begin?

Saunders CD has a diagnostic exam that tells you which topics you're weak or good at. You can even print out a study schedule based on your strengths and weaknesses.
  15. This is how I prepared for my NCLEX-RN Exam. :)

Wow. I'm sure this will be a very valuable guide to many future NCLEX takers.=) For my review, I enrolled in a Kaplan class and read Saunders 4th Ed after I finished the Kaplan materials. A few weeks before the exam date, I kept on answering 75-150 i...
  16. Medications on the NCLEX

try studying by category and look for common prefixes or suffixes.. don't expect to memorize every drug out there (you're not Chuck Norris.. lol) but seriously, it's not a realistic goal. if you do encounter medication names that you're sure you have...
  17. I know this sounds crazy...

Yes! I remember dreaming about applying the test taking strategies taught by Kaplan. Assessment vs. implementation, Maslow's, etc. But I don't remember the question! Haha.
  18. How fast can I try the PVT Pop up trick??!?!?!

As long as it already says "delivery successful" under the status. Congratulations!
  19. What is the answer for this?

i would answer a, b, and c. a = compare with baseline. b = helps bring bp up, even though it wasn't stated that the cause is hypovolemia. also, our instructor taught us that in nclex, it is a perfect world, and you have all the resources to do ever...
  20. How long do most people study for NCLEX?

I reviewed for 5 months.. I enrolled in a Kaplan review course here in the Philippines - which is 4 months long, plus a live class.
  21. I got the good pop up!! :d

congratulations! it proved to be accurate for me. i got a PASS on the quick results a couple of days after, and my name appeared on the BRN website the day after that. =)
  22. What do you guys do the day before your exam?

Went to an amusement park with mu husband and baby..=)
  23. confused with this question, dunno which answer is right

I think it depends on how the question is stated. If you are asked about the INITIAL intervention, I would guess it would be to document findings (considering there are no other more important choices like ensure patient safety, do physical assessmen...
  24. Taking NCLEX-RN on 2/28

Thanks! Just checked the Vermont BRN website.. I'm officially on their list! =)))
  25. Taking NCLEX-RN on 2/28

Hi! I'll be taking my NCLEX-RN this Feb.28 in Manila, Philippines. I've taken the full Kaplan review course and have read Saunders 4th Ed cover to cover. On Kaplan Question Trainers, I've scored 60-80%, and on the Readiness Exam, 81%. Right now, and ...
