  1. I am shocked!!!!

I met one of my classmate I had last semester. I asked her how she did, and said: about a b+ average. Not bad for a pothead, huh? I was like WHAT?!? She said: yeah, I smoke in the evening sometimes. I couldn't believe it! Being a nurse, according to ...
  2. Vegetarians would take it, as it does not come from a live breathing animals. Vegans, on the other hand would refuse it because we object to human use of animals, and all meds have been tested on animals. And die-hard vegans would rather lose their l...
  3. I would tell them. They have the right to know. Heck, even I would refuse it, along with gelatine caps. I don't eat that stuff either. I'm not jewish or muslim, but I'm vegan. And if I ever come across a vegan pt, and that I'm aware of it, I'll tell ...
  4. did your school require a drug test?

Neither does my school, thankfully. Otherwise, we'd be about 25 people in the entire program...
  5. You know you've been in nursing school too long when...

Oh yeah! I do that all the time! Or when it's summer and you're working nights, you wonder what you're going to bring to read, because you don't have any more schoolwork! I wonder what my free time-filled life will be like after school!
  6. Bad Clinical Rotation

I feel your pain dear! My CI (OB/GYN) is the devil personated! She makes me awfully nervous, which makes me forget things, and she doesn't stop being on my case. For exemple, there was something that no sudent knew (we're a group of 5). Yet, I'm the ...
  7. Worst week ever...(vent)

I just had the worst week of my life. I found out I was too selective and would not be able to do my externship this summer, which sucks, 'cause I'll be stuck working as an aid while seeing my friends play nursey...:angryfire But the worst blow came...
  8. Nursing School

In my school, hep b isn't a factor, but you have to tell the program supervisor. The only thing that can keep you out is a drug/alcohol problem or a mental health problem.
  9. Worst week ever...(vent)

Unfortunatly, that's the best time we could get by "shopping around". Thanks to everyone for your replies, it helps a lot.
  10. My New Nurse Wake-Up Call; Shocking Behaviors

It's a good idea, but couldn't be called like that in my province. A code pink is a pediatric cardiac arrest.
  11. Excited and just need to tell someone!

Oh yeah, absolutely! The first semester is sooo much easier if you know pt care first. Good luck!
  12. Nursing Student

Hi! You'd probably have more success here: https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/ in the student assistance forum. Good luck!
  13. I feel your pain. It happened to us (in Quebec) last year. But for us, it was a student strike. You could try to read to get ahead, work more hours (if possible) and TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOU!!!! I know it sucks big time, but it's happening and you got...
  14. Spending the Benjamins

My :angryfire !%&$?%$:angryfire student loan, as well as my gf's (in nursing school too-scheduled to graduate at the same time.) Have a bit more than 5000 together...:angryfire
  15. Thoughts on nurse's uniforms

At my school, we can pretty much wear what we want, as long as it's not too "freaky", ie: weird colors like black, of patterns. The only mandatory thing is our student badge issued by the school.
  16. how many (nursing students) are sick?

Aside from my stress level that has never been that high, my anemia and being sleep deprived, I had cellulitis (not the orange-skin thingy) last week. I was in the ER a couple of days, but managed to get my DM to let me go to school! (I'm crazy, huh?...
  17. Hi! I'll be doing peds rotation every tuesday and wednesday for the next four weeks. I'm a bit nervous, because I've got no children, and my cousins are at least ten y-o. I'll be on a 0-5 y-o unit. Do you have any advice that could make this clinical...
  18. scared to do peds rotation

That's weird...in my school, we're allowed to give meds in our peds rotation (mine's comming up next week!), but are taught the proper technique, along with the teacher behind us; but we don't start I.V. (teacher said it was too hard, and beside, RN...
  19. Yes!!!!!!!!!! I am on Spring Break! Anyone Else?

I don't have any friggin' spring break!:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire Some smart @ss, at my college (not nursing students), decided to eliminate that week to finish school earlier...:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire We have 6 days around easter an...
  20. Need some information on a scary situation!

I'm not an expert, but from what I learned in my immunization portion of my community health class, I don't think there should be any problem. We learned that you are fully immunized after the second dose. The third one is only to "secure" and make t...
  21. Drug Tests and Hemp Oil

I asked someone who knew more on the subject and got that answer: I'll let you know if anything else comes up.
  22. What are some tips on getting ready to be in a hospital?

Or work as an aid if you can. The best experience possible. You'll be giving so much baths that after that, it will seem much easier.
  23. Testing Scare

    :rotfl: Not bad!:rotfl:
  24. Um, more than I wanted to know...

Yeah, it's the curse of the RN. I'm only a student, but my whole family is asking questions and seek advice... Gotta love the job!:chuckle
  25. Commendation Report...

wow!!!! :balloons: congrats to you!!!:balloons:! that thing doesn't exist at my school, but my instructor did congratulate me when a incident similar to yours happened in my second semester. you responded in the best way possible. you should be ve...
