    I Passed! My story...

Hey y'all! I want to share my story with you to possibly make you aware of certain things that I didn't know and maybe even bring some comfort to you. I took my NCLEX yesterday morning at 0800. I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm went off because I ...

    Effective April 2014

It's not so much that the questions will be more difficult. They just changed the NCLEX-RN in 2013. They always change it. There will be different styles of questions. If it is anything like NCLEX-RN, it will be SATA, Hot spot, fill in the blank (dos...

    I Passed! My story...

Unfortunately, I am unable to share the files since they are copy written. I'm sorry

    Informed Consent

I was told that the nurse should be the witness, but only witness if the patient understands the procedure. If they don't understand, it is the physician's responsibility to teach the patient about the procedure. I don't have a source or text, this i...

    I Passed! My story...

I didn't read Saunders very much. I only did Endocrine, Cardiac, Respiratory, and Renal. I didn't do any questions since I had Kaplan.

    Endocrine

This just made me think of another way to remember. You can always think of Cushings like a "cushion," which is squishy and fat.

Can someone please explain what PVT mean R/T NCLEX

It stands for Pearson Vue Trick. Basically, if you take your NCLEX and try to re-register for it through Pearson, if you get a pop up saying "Our records indicate that you have a scheduled exam already," then you passed. If you are sent through on to...

Clinicals, really not prep for real world?

I'm sorry you haven't had a lot of experience. My friend just graduated from a BSN program and said that she wasn't allowed to do anything but baths and changing linens. I think it's crazy how different some programs are compared to others. I am in a...

    Pharmacology Flashcards (drug cards)

Thank you so much for posting these! I will be using them to study for my Pharmacology HESI at the end of this semester. For some reason, we didn't take the Pharm HESI at the end of the pharm class and I need a refresher.

    Sterile Gloving Procedure

    Sterile Gloving Procedure

We were taught not to touch the folded-over part of the cuff once our other glove was on. It doesn't make sense since it is technically sterile, but my instructor said it was unsterile because that is the part that touches your skin? IDK. But how we ...

    Forced wearing of nursing cap.

Actually, nursing began in about 250 B.C. I obviously don't know what their rituals or anything entailed after they became nurses, but either way, what I meant was that nursing has been around for a very long time, all of which had some sort of tradi...

    Losing respect for nursing students

I don't believe all "fresh out of high school" or young people should be grouped together as lazy and wanting everything handed to them. I am 21 years old. I am about to start my fourth semester (out of five). I work very hard for everything. My scho...

    Forced wearing of nursing cap.

I don't think a pinning ceremony should be considered "silly" or something that you should feel foolish about. It is to honor the graduating students and gives them a right of passage into nursing. It has been a tradition for over a 1,000 years. A co...

How should a petite girl prepare for lifting pts?

I am 5'4 and 108-110 pounds and have no issues with helping patients change positions. You will learn in your first semester how to properly move your patients without hurting yourself. Always bend with your knees and use your leg muscles-never the b...

    Nursing Program Length

I had to complete 10 prerequisite classes and my ADN program is 5 semesters long. I plan on doing my RN-BSN online, which will be 3 semesters.

    Normal nursing grades..

I make straight b's in nursing school. Prior, I was a 4.0 student. I try my best and that is what matters. As long as you can pass nursing school and your boards for licensure, who cares what your grades are if you tried your best? Grades don't make ...
  20. I agree lmccrn62! Just because you can make the grade doesn't mean you will be a good nurse. You can have a 4.0 and not have any qualities a nurse should possess (i.e. empathy, compassion, understanding, etc.).
  21. I think the best two options for a new nursing graduate would to either A) Do a nurse residency program, or B) Get experience as a nurse on a med-surg unit first for a year (at least). You are exposed to a wide variety of patients on a med-surg unit....

    Pharmacology 💊💊

If your textbook has key objectives outlined at the beginning of each chapter, I recommend learning them! What I did was make it sort of like a treasure hunt. I would only read the parts pertaining to the key objectives of that chapter, then write do...

    To buy or to rent?

I don't recommend buying previous editions! Nursing (and healthcare in general) is an ever-changing field of knowledge. Nursing books take a very long time to get edited and published, therefore even the new additions have some outdated information i...

    To buy or to rent?

I personally purchased all of my textbooks. I have used books from foundations (first semester) to help me understand more complex issues from adult health (second and third semester). My medical-surgical textbook is used from second semester through...

    What is your Fall schedule?

Well, I don't have summer off, so on May 8, I start Adult Health III and Parent-Child (fourth semester). For the Fall, I will be starting my final semester of nursing school (yay!). I will be taking Adult Health IV and Transitions.
