   i DO NOT AGREE, you may have an SSN even if you are not a citizen. the K-1 visa granted your wife first a conditional green card, that is why she has SSN, after 2 years she has to remove that condition from her green card so she could stay in the US....

   yes its true you may use a federal employer number, but make sure it is really the employer that you have & not someone elses or your license may be revoked for fraud.

   sure you may take the nclex in other states of the US that does not require SSN...but you may only apply for reciprocity to CA if you already have SSN. otherwise you cannot practice.

    Silverdragon, You may apply for an SSN if you have green card already in the US, or if you are a US citizen. Other than that, you cannot get an SSN.

    If you passed the exam, you will be given a license but only if you give them an SSN. If however, you got your license already, you cannot renew or extend it without giving them your SSN within a period of 3 years..
