  1. I don't think it would be handled any differently elsewhere. This is pretty typical. They never usually seem to care about the past years, and only the current. I would just let it go and consider it part of the bad year. If you do decide to change e...

Return to bedside part time - or not?

It would be better than dying of boredom! Even if it doesn't work out in the long run you will get your skills up to date which will open up a lot of future opportunities.

New Grad Program, Not Meeting Goals

Sounds like they want you to reflect on what is causing the errors and what might be the best way to help you overcome the issue. They may feel they have tried everything they can think of and feel the answer can only come from you. It seems like the...

MRI machine traps nurse in freak accident

Calling the supervisor before hitting the emergency shut off was just unbelievable.

    Glove use beyond standard precautions?

In my opinion when they are worn for everything they become no better than an ungloved hand as it just becomes the "norm". Is that glove you are wearing for everything now any cleaner than your hand was without it for that activity?

    Being a nurse of color.

I wonder if it might be them seeing you as a new nurse more than anything. You will need to establish limits though with the tech etc. You are the nurse.

    New Job Recommendations

Nothing is forever. Take job #1 and if it closes move on. You hated being on call all the time. Why would you even consider a job that requires on call 3 days a week every week?

You are fabulous. Honestly. Keep us updated.
  14. What is going on with this now?
  15. Sure, but you just have to deal with it and adjust or move on. This will happen throughout your working life.

    Your dream nursing job?

Does any "dream job" actually exist. That pays decent money and benefits?
  17. Normally they would have an "activities director" who would do those things in ALF.
  18. I am not an ICU nurse, but everything you say sounds more like a poor work environment and people with less experience and knowledge than they think running the show.

That was really kind of you, but the hospital should reimburse you. Any way to pursue that?

    Two Snaps Up!

I think they are requesting more "decorum" in the communications by nurses on this forum. At least that is all I could figure out LOL.
  21. I would pitch in for that Wuzzie!
  22. What type of work setting is it?

I am so sorry J22. You gave Angus a wonderful life and he was lucky to have you. I know your heart aches right now and wish you comfort. Thank you for giving Angus a wonderful world.
  24. You should not allow her to be a nurse again though. Regardless of how people may feel about whether the act was careless or not or showed blatant disregard for basic nursing care. Also, her behavior since speaks volumes.

Hoping Angus stays comfortable. It is always so hard when they have these issues. Tweety - we are scoping out Florida for retirement (middle class income). Any areas you recommend?
