    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

Hello, Does anyone know what the program hours are like? Just curious. Thank you in advance

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

I just moved out to the Antelope Valley in March. I did my LVN in 2011, in Ventura at a private college, so I am unfamiliar with AVC's LVN program or their process. Not many community colleges have an LVN program these days, so to get in would be amazing.

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

I applied in back in April. They are already getting ready for the Summer 2019 start in April. It helped that I took the TEAS prior on my own (I paid for it) and met with the nursing counselor with everything in hand. I pray to start in Summer.

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

Gosh I hope so. I have waited a long time for this and with everything, I would hate to have to wait longer than I already have. I call the nursing office like once a month and already, I feel their frustration in their voice. It is about to be a long wait till April. LOL thank you so much for replying back. I appreciate it.

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

Hi, Are you familiar with their LVN bridge candidates? I am #28 on next summer start but I am told they only allow 20 LVN's each year. Mind you, I completed all classes, took the TEAS & met with the Nursing Counselor. Any advice is appreciated.

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

I applied for the LVN to RN program and although, I am a transfer student; I still had to meet with the Nursing Counselor. Not sure how the LVN to RN program differs from generic RN program but I did not have points to deal with. I applied late to the program (April 2018), so I missed the Summer 2018 program start. I feel extremely lucky though, cause I should be starting the program Summer 2019. So it isn't too long of a wait.

Is the May 31st deadline for the LVN to RN applicants? I am anxiously waiting to see if I can begin this Fall for the LVN to RN bridge program.

LVN to RN program at AVC

Hello...just wanting to start a thread to see if anyone has any info they can provide about Antelope Valley Community College's LVN to RN bridge program? Little about me...I was a faithful COC student for 5 years and when I applied to the program, I got a ridiculous lame denial. I am super disappointed but oh well, so I applied to AVC in March of this year. I called the Nursing Office and was told that I am #53 on the waitlist. Not sure what that means. Do I get ready for fall 2018? or assume it will be sometime in 2019. From what I gather, I need to call them weekly for waitlist # updates to see if I have moved up but I am curious on what others can share about their experience. By the way, I paid to take the TEAS VI and passed successfully 1st attempt. My pre-reqs are all done but 2 (philosophy and a history class) that I plan to take online this summer. Any advice given is appreciated...thank you

    AVC Nursing program Fall 2018

Hello.....yes, thank you for starting this post. I did apply for the LVN to RN bridge program. I called the Nursing office and was told that I am #53. Not sure if that means I may get lucky this fall or next spring. I wish you the best of luck! From what I am told AVC has a great nursing program.

Can I get an advice for LVN to RN program?

Hello, I will try to help you in any way that I can and do my best to answer your questions. 1) If you wish to attend a Community College LVN to RN bridge program, then you will need to complete a list of pre-requisites. Each school has different requirements, so you will need to look at the school at an individual basis. Private schools such as Azusa Pacific, West Coast and Mt Saint Marys all have a bridge program that are very expensive. The cheapest was West Coast of the 3 and without pre-reqs done it was around $125,000.00 2) This again all depends. You need to look at each school individually. In OC, there is Cypress & Cerritos community college that both have an LVN to RN bridge. So that is the most affordable route. 3) Yes. I have done it and administrative work is not for me. Unless I am not physically able to nurse, then I will go back to doing it. Also, you are watched like a hawk while working from home or in a cubical. It wasn't my cup of tea and super boring. 4) See above responses 5) California does not coordinate LVN or RN licenses with any other state, so they are not a compact state. 6) I have never heard of this school, sorry I hope I helped and good luck to you! Thank you for your service!!!

    Cheating

I have encountered something similar and to do the right thing, isn't always easy but I was raised to do so. So what did I do? I asked my professor to speak with me alone to the side and I told her what I encountered. I also told her that it is not my responsibility to monitor or watch my classmate but I found it to be distracting. From then on, my professor had my classmate take her tests right in front of her and eventually my classmate disappeared from class. So, to me there is no real question as to what I would do and it is inevitably your choice.

    From Cali to Michigan

Thank you so much for your reply. I have found McLaren Healthcare to have a few positions open. I have wanted to move out of state for many years. California has lost it's appeal due to over saturated roads/highways, fast paced lifestyle, over saturated nursing programs, too hot, extreme difficulty at home purchasing and that is too name a few. I am sure Lansing will have it's pros and cons as well, but my life seems to just have started in my 40's and I am welcoming the change

    From Cali to Michigan

Hello, I am an LVN in California for going on 7 years now. My husband just may land an awesome opportunity in Lansing, Michigan so I wanted to ask about the LPN job market there. I am looking online on indeed and other sites as well. I have 3 years hospital experience, 1 year in psych, 1 year home health and 2 years family medicine clinic. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! P.S...I am just wrapping up my last semester of pre-requisites. As of yet, I have not found an LPN to RN bridge program in Lansing.

I think I'm too dumb to be a nurse

If you are unsure of something then ask or google and find out. I had to look up injection sites as well and retinal screenings, so I knew what I was looking at. My facility has a lack of training which is terrible considering that I work for a major employer. None the less, whenever I had a trainee I always told them to ask when in doubt, rather than act like they knew what they were doing and did the wrong thing. Try not to worry so much and just correct where your mistakes are made. The biggest thing is admitting you made a mistake and ensuring that you never make the same mistake again by learning.
